About Erika Mello

Dr. Mello earned her bachelor’s degree at Oberlin College in Ohio. She earned her medical degree from Rowan School of Osteopathic Medicine in New Jersey and completed her residency at the University of Connecticut in internal medicine.

Dr. Mello is a board certified in internal medicine primary care physician and has over 12 years of experience. Her experience includes both rural and metropolitan medicine, and inpatient and outpatient care. Dr. Mello is certified in Medical Acupuncture, has training in osteopathic manipulation and knowledge of alternative therapies, supplementing her western medicine education.

She is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the New England Society of Medical Acupuncture.

  • Well explained conditions and solutions without rushing the appointment.

  • Provider had a Difficult time contacting me via FaceTime. Had to rebook from my first appointment and second appointment had the same issue. Not sure why but I was frustrated by the wait time. My time is valuable too!

  • My telehealth appointment with Dr.Mello was extremely efficient and effective. Dr.Mello answered all my questions and was able to order my lab work and prescriptions without issue. This provider was kind and took her time to get to know me which was appreciated. I would definitely recommend.

  • Everyone one in this office was pleasant and respectful. Appointments are generally on time. Perhaps it would be helpful if patients brought with them a short list of questions/ concerns that could be given to the doctor at the beginning of the appointment that would help the doctor assist a nervous patient I know time is precious and thought this might be productive.

  • I was on time, but the Dr was running about half hour behind other than that everything was excellent

  • This was a new patient appointment and I was very pleased with the office, staff, and provider. During check-out, a follow-up appointment was made for me including lab work. I am looking forward to my next appointment with Dr Mello.

She explained the course of first Medicare check upI was thinking I should finally get my first colonoscopy but was told I wasn't due till next year as I did a cologuard test couple yrs back- even though they lowered the age of recommendations for colonoscopy. I now work as nurse in endoscopy and see many pple with multiple polyps. 1 patient went from 3 to 19! I think occult blood is a late sign right? Why would I not be eligible for my first colonoscopy? That doesn't make sense to me. The doctor was great. I like her a lot. She doesn't make the rules. But the price of colorguard is lot less than colonoscopy

  • Beginning with the check in, ending with the check out, and --most importantly-- services in between, Dr. MELLO and the staff at this location were excellent. Dr. MELLO is my top choice for a PCP on this area, and I'm so glad that she was chosen for me. The staff was professional, efficient, and kind.

  • Well, it was generally a good experience and I feel lucky to have this as a health provider. I noticed the new girl at the front desk was very efficient and have a great articulation and an intelligence and I think that helps to have people in the reception area who could speak well.

  • All of the staff was nice and respectful. I was a little uncomfortable that I was made to change my cloth mask to a paper one.

  • It was my first time at this office there was a mix up with my appointment I think that I was never put into the schedule that I had arrived for my appointment? But that's ok things happen the dr was excellent the staff that did the intake before the dr came in also excellent

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
