About Edress Othman

Dr. Othman is a graduate of the University of Aleppo Faculty of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the SUNY Buffalo Graduate Medical-Dental Education Consortium Program, as well as a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Vermont. Previously he worked as a hospitalist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Carle Foundation Hospital of the University of Illinois.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Othman is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of  Oncology, and the American College of Physicians.

  • Excellent treatment

  • From check in to preliminary testing, to meeting with Dr Othman & subsequent lab work, everyone was super nice, caring and professional.This was my initial visit to this unit and the staff and surroundings made it very comfortable for me.

  • Dr. Othman and the staff were caring and very knowledgeable. I am now cancer-free and will miss my visits with Dr. Othman. He is encouraging and knew how to put us at ease when I was diagnosed. I hope he never leaves because if I get cancer again I want him to take care of me.

  • From the moment you are in the waiting room receptionist was bubbly and cordial. Assistant bringing you to get vitals was just as pleasant. Dr Offerman was soon in room, very nice

  • Everything was explained in detail. All questions were answered, very professional, courteous, and friendly and very caring and came up with different plans to go with. All in all, I'd say it was a good experience. I walked out of there happier than I walked in.

  • For a new patient visit, this provider did not spend much time reviewing history or asking detailed questions, but did review labs and test results without listening to me as a patient for the whole picture of my health issues and concerns. I filled out paperwork with details about my condition and medications prior to the appointment and no one showed any interest in reviewing it. Why give me a survey of detailed questions for me to take the time to fill out, and then not even take the time to look at it? That being said, it is hard to judge after one appointment and so I will be more prepared for the follow up appointment now that I know what to expect, and have additional questions to raise after more test results are in.

  • Dr. Othman listened to me and explained everything well. He put me at ease.

  • Excellent experience with the Hematology staff & the lab techs are phenomenal!

  • I had a concern about a swelling under my arm and Dr Othman was very attentive to this and ordered an ultrasound just to make sure everything was ok.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
