About Edress Othman

Dr. Othman is a graduate of the University of Aleppo Faculty of Medicine in Aleppo, Syria. He completed a residency in internal medicine at the SUNY Buffalo Graduate Medical-Dental Education Consortium Program, as well as a fellowship in hematology/oncology at the University of Vermont. Previously he worked as a hospitalist and clinical assistant professor of medicine at the Carle Foundation Hospital of the University of Illinois.

Board certified in internal medicine, Dr. Othman is a member of the American Society of Hematology, the American Society of  Oncology, and the American College of Physicians.

  • Hi, I meant to ... I meant to hit 4 on all the questions. I did not mean to hit 3, and I did thinking 3 was the last one until I listened again. 4 is what I want everything that was asked for me, and I couldn't ask for nicer people to be with during this time is not easy going in there in the first place. But everybody is wonderful. They got me into the lab. The girl at the desk could not have been nicer. The one that makes the appointments, or the one that checked you in when you come in. The lady that makes the appointments is wonderful. I just can't say enough about the staff. And of course, I love my oncologist. I just think he's a wonderful wonderful person Dr. Othman, so A-1 all the way through. Thank you so much. Goodbye.

  • Yes, the staff was marvelous. My biggest thing was you know dealing with the pain which they address magnificently without getting me all crazy. They made me very comfortable, they the girls, the doctors they they they were wonderful. I really can't say too much more than that, I almost cried when I had to leave I feel comfortable. No, thank you that's about it. But you know I had no problems at all. Not that I'm looking forward to come back but I have no problem not coming back. Alright guys you all have a good all night, and I'll talk to you see you one of these days. Thank you, [Name].

  • The staff and doctor while professional were easy to talk to and answered questions so a lay person could understand.

  • I felt welcome from the time I walked in downstairs. A first visit can be scary, but everyone from the front desk, the navigator, the doctor, the scheduler, the lab worker made me feel like I was the most important person in the minute. The doctor took his time and explained things carefully. I didn't know what to expect when I got there-my phone relationship was difficult in the beginning. It was difficult to get someone to call me back, and when we finally connected I had to wait a month for an appointment. The process to get in was something that could be improved.

  • My two experiences (one in-person, the other a telehealth appointment) with Dr. Othman and the Oncology/Hematology team have been excellent. I really appreciate being able to be seen in Fairhaven since that's where I live.I greatly appreciate Dr. Othman addressing my concerns and explaining things to me in a detailed manner. He seems to be a caring and competent doctor.

  • They didn't make us wait too long. They take us fast and the the people was polite to us they was nice to us. Then the doctor was nice and that's about it. And I did this is my 1st time going there can't really say too much because that was my 1st time. But the 1st time I was there they treated me with that good me and my mother can't complain. That was it. Bye.

  • Clear explanation from the pulmonologist (Dr. [Name] on Thursday and oncologists (Dr. Othman and Dr. [Name] on Friday but terrible follow up from my PCP (Dr. [Name]) who did not seem aware of the basic schedule of my exams during a video call on the following Monday.

  • Todays appt for just the Lab had a line of 4 people in front of me to check into Oncology! I was very uncomfortable and had about 5 people just sitting and waiting too. in the Office I was practically on the elevator waiting .. I felt uncomfortable in the lab with another patient getting blood work done at the same time.

  • Covid and telehealth are hard. You are awesome. Just at 80 telehealth is hard and isolation worse. Not sleeping, losing weight I think due to isolation but your office is great. I'm grateful to have you as my health team. thank you.

  • My Oncologist and his staff members are all gentile, kind and courteous. I am grateful for the care I receive. I do not see any improvements neccessary at this time.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
