About Douglas Garland PA-C
Douglas Garland, PA-C, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst in Amherst, MA. He developed his expertise in the medical field when he completed a Master of Science degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Northeastern University in Boston, MA. He has nearly 30 years of experience as a physician assistant, specializing in orthopedic surgery and sports medicine.
Douglas’s personal philosophy of care is to treat all of his patients as he would wish to be treated. By paying close attention to his patients’ medical history and needs, he cares for them efficiently and effectively. Douglas makes sure to focus his care on the whole person with empathy and compassion.
Douglas’s commitment to community has always been evident. Before his time as a physician’s assistant, he served in the Peace Corps on an outer island in Fiji. He also volunteers annually at The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a camp for children with major medical issues.
Outside of work, Douglas enjoys spending time with his family, playing tennis and ice hockey, sailing, fishing and playing the guitar.

First of all, I want to say that both the check-in staff and the check-out staff are outstanding. They seem to know exactly what was needed and how to accommodate my needs. Secondly, I think Doug Garland is an outstanding person to have on your staff. He is so kind and understanding about the issues I had with my hand and I think he is definitely a keeper for the South Coast Health. Thank you.

They help with everything i need
I've always had a great experience with Dr. [Name]and her staff. This was the first time I met Douglas and he is no exception.

My husband had surgery with Dr. [Name] He ended up going back a few days later to have his finger checked and Dr. Garland was amazing with him. My husband felt very comfortable with him checking him and came home very happy. Thank you.

Professional and listened to my concerns
This was my second visit to this office, and I was late. I need up at the wrong address on Faunce Corner Road. I waited, probably because I was almost 15 minutes late. Douglas was courteous, administering the cortisone shot in my wrist, and then I was out. Easy and efficient.
They were wonderful dr petrulio was very caring and compassionate and has the absolute amazing bedside matter I couldn't have asked for anything better they were so kind

Dr.Garland was very understanding and very patient with all my questions. He was extremely caring on removing my stitches when a couple of them were hard to remove.The girls putting on my splint were also very kind as was the girl taking my x-rays.I liked that I was able to see my x-rays before I left.Thank you….
