About David Bae

Dr. Bae earned a Master’s Degree in Neurobiology and a Medical Degree from Brown University Medical School.

He completed a residency in Urology at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence where he also completed a research fellowship in Urology and Men’s Health.

Dr. Bae has specialized training in laparoscopic urological surgery including extensive training with the da Vinci robotic system.

He also has particular interest and, advanced training in the use of lasers in prostate surgery, including the latest Green Light XPS laser system for benign prostate enlargement.

Dr. Bae is board certified in Urology.

  • I was not happy to wait >1 hour past my appointment time. Perhaps someone could have called to let me know so I could have left my office later

  • Dr. Bae seemed as an excellent urologist, and I plan to continue with him. The only complaint is that he was unaware that the prescription he ordered fo me was not covered by my Medicare insurance. I was not able to afford the total prescription, so I am basically left in the same dilemma as when I went in. Not good.

  • The Staff and Doctor Bae were courteous. Still waiting for my prescription to be available. Appointment was Friday morning, still not available as of Monday morning. Not sure where the issue is but more than likely a pharmacy question.

  • All medical professionals are very, very busy with the current pandemic and it's ancillary issues. There was a delay in receiving a call from the physician of over an hour after pre-check from their office, but under the current circumstances, this is acceptable to me. The discussion was brief, to the point, and the physician did apologize for the tardy response to our appointment. Let us all hope that we can get through this pandemic, and maintain survival of our current health systems without total collapse. Southcoast appears to be working hard to achieve this very difficult goal.

  • Dr Bae was very kind and thorough and explained things very well to me. I was nervous and a little embarrassed at first but he made me feel comfortable with his sense of humor and down to earth explanations.

  • Almost always a long wait in exam room. About an hour for this visit. Need to correct that.

  • Doctor Bae was surprising extremely knowledgeable with my diagnoses knew was was wrong demonstrated the problem of multiple kidney stones and what may have caused them. Illustrated the procedure he felt that would be fastest to conclusion. He laid out a few options my reply to him was what he considered the best approach and we would go with that. His decisions and knowledge is why I was there in the first place. He was pleased with my reply I think. Both my Wife and I was pleased he was thorough never left a question unanswered and made sure we asked all. I consider Doctor Bae one of the best doctor/surgeons met recently.

  • Dr. Bae was over an above accommodating, helpful, kind. He had to schedule me for emergency surgery. He rea ... really went over and above. His office staff was less than desired. They weren't as professional as I would expect. Were not courteous, seemed a little bit annoyed with actually Dr. Bae for him trying to fit me into a surgical schedule. So that was disappointing. He was definitely trying to go out of his way to help me and they were not.

  • Dr Bae is fantastic. He is helpful and was able to give me the information and follow up care that I needed. I missed my last telehealth appointment as I waited an hour past the time and then had to continue with my own work meetings, so I rescheduled for today. When they called today to "check me in" hours before my appointment, I was told telehealth is done between surgeries and is offered as a courtesy and there are not specific appointment times, however I had a specific appointment time. I was told my appointment would likely be earlier than planned. Scheduling is definitely something that could use improvement. I made today's appointment at a time that it wouldn't matter if the telehealth started late, which was good because it was about 40 mins past the time that my appointment started. I love the telehealth option (I work in mental health and we are primarily doing that now too) because it saves a ton of time driving, especially for something that doesn't require an office visit, and appreciate that it is offered.

  • DrBae listened very carefully when I spoke. The office staff was very polite and caring.The office was clean and neat.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
