About Ahmad Alwassia

Ahmad Alwassia, MD graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. In addition, Dr. Alwassia completed his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the George Washington University Hospital. Prior to joining Southcoast Health, he worked full time in pulmonary and critical care for several years in Iowa.

Dr. Alwassia’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in partnering with the patient and their family to reach a diagnosis and provide the best management and treatment options according to the patient’s individual needs. His clinical interests include asthma, COPD, lung cancer diagnosis and staging, pleural effusion, lung nodule and mass evaluation, and critical care.

When not at work, Dr. Alwassia enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.

He always shakes my hand when entering the room, and he is ALWAYS prepared with all my updated information before signing into the computer. He asks you questions then he ACTUALLY LISTENS. Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.

Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.

How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and  Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office.  The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
