Southcoast Health Announces Addition of Five Physicians and Three Advanced Practice Providers
Southcoast Health is pleased to announce that the not-for-profit community health system welcomed five new physicians and three advanced practice providers. They are joining the cardiology, critical care, hospitalist, internal medicine, neurosurgery, pediatrics, orthopedic trauma surgery, and trauma and acute care surgery specialties.
Karen Bergeron, PA-C | Neurocirurgia
Karen Bergeron, PA-C obtained her Master of Science as a Physician Assistant from Daemen University in Amherst, NY. She now joins Southcoast Health Brain & Spine (Cérebro e coluna vertebral) caring for patients in Fall River, Dartmouth and Wareham.
Abigail Carr, PA-C | Cuidados críticos
Abigail Carr, PA-C obtained her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Bryant University in Smithfield, RI. She now joins Southcoast Health Critical Care caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Kathryn Davis, MD | Family and Internal Medicine
Kathryn Davis, MD obtained her Doctor of Medicine with a distinction in Bioethics from Albany Medical College in Albany, NY. She now joins Southcoast Health Family and Internal Medicine seeing patients in Fairhaven.
Andrew Doben, MD | Cirurgia de Trauma e Cuidados Agudos
Andrew Doben, MD obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He completed his training in general surgery at the Maine Medical Center in Portland, Maine and a fellowship in critical care at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston. He now joins Southcoast Health Trauma & Acute Care Surgery caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Ahmad Halawi, MD | Hospitalista
Ahmad Halawi, MD obtained his Doctor of Medicine from Lebanese University in Beirut, Lebanon. He completed his internal medicine residency at Mt. Auburn Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Cambridge, MA. He furthered his advanced medical training by conducting postdoctoral research in immunology and biomarkers at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. He now joins Southcoast Health as a hospitalist caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Brandon Lukacs, PA-C | Orthopedic Trauma Surgery
Brandon Lukacs, PA-C obtained his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from the University of St. Joseph in West Hartford, CT. He now joins Southcoast Health Orthopedic Trauma Surgery caring for patients at St. Luke’s Hospital.
Kinna Parikh, MD | Medicina Interna
Kinna Parikh, MD obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the Gujarat Medical Education & Research Society Medical College in Gandhinagar, Guj, India. She began her internal medicine residency at Western Reserve Health Education in Warren, Ohio and continued her training at Kent Hospital/Brown University Internal Medicine Program in Rhode Island. She now joins Southcoast Health Internal Medicine seeing patients in Fall River.
Edward Philbin, MD, FACC, FAHA | Non-Invasive Cardiology
Edward Philbin, MD, FACC, FAHA obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the UMDNJ – Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark, New Jersey. He completed his internship and residency in internal medicine at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Boston, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiology, heart failure, and transplantation at West Roxbury VA Medical Center, Brigham & Women’s Hospital, and Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Philbin now joins Saúde do Coração e Vascular de Southcoast as Medical Director of Heart Failure.
