Dr. Patricia DeGroot earned her Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Chicago in Chicago, Illinois.
She has proudly served in the United States Air Force
She was inspired to become a physician having grown up in a large family and having a great interest in science, and feels that she was “born” to do her work. She believes that every patient has a story and that this is an integral part of why she loves her work. Taking care of next-generation patients whom she has delivered has been particularly heart-warming.
When not at work, she loves to sail and dance. To Dr. DeGroot, Southcoast Health means quality healthcare dedicated to its community.

Didn't leave there feeling like my voice was heard and that she understood my issues and what was working and what wasn't. Wont see this provider again but will try a different one in the same practice
I really like this provider she's very nice and kind and seems very caring.
I have no complaints with my provider or any of the office staff. It is however usually difficult if not impossible to schedule follow ups within the time frame the provider wants. And it's difficult to make a mutually convenient appointment in an acceptable time frame
Great all around, I appreciate Dr. Degroot shes is very knowledgeable in her area, she listens and is thorough, I know I'm getting the best care, Thank you Dr. Degroot!!!
Very nice and took her time with me
I was not able to make an appointment for my next yearly exam because the calendar for August of 2026 was not out yet. I was told to call in December or January to book my next appointment. It would've been nice had I been able to book it yesterday. It's not a big deal, but just a minor inconvenience.
Professional, polite, caring
I didn't feel like I was listened to, however I know that providers are busy and have other patients to get to. I didn't feel like I could get a full sentence out without being spoken over.
The doctor took the time needed to give a thorough examination and provide education and recommendations!!
The staff from the front desk to the medical staff are truly amazing.
I had my first prenatal appointment and it felt pointless. There was no exam, blood work, or ultrasound. The dr asked basic questions that could have been answered over the phone. It seems that her main goal was for us to stay with Southcoast regardless of distance and what might be best for my family. Overall I was extremely disappointed.
Dr. Degroot is the best. Wish I was with her a long time ago.u00A0
Good listening and compassion
Dr. DeGroot had thoroughly researched my case before meeting with me and was prepared to work with me to get to the bottom of my issues. She also followed up with me after the fact via MyChart.
Check in and check out staff never smiled. Probably too busy. The air upon entering the lobby seemed stale. I wanted to open a window. The nurse was good and I like the doctor.
Dr. Degroot took her time and didn't rush through my appointment. She took extra steps in 1 visit instead of having me schedule more visits. She along with the staff was very friendly, welcoming and made me feel comfortable.
