About John Ponti, MD, CAQSM
Dr. John Ponti specializes in non-operative treatment. He graduated with his Bachelor of Arts degree, Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Massachusetts Amherst. He then went on to further his medical expertise, graduating with his Doctor of Medicine from T.H Chan School of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School in Worcester, MA. Dr. Ponti completed his residency at Brown Family Medicine in Pawtucket, RI before moving on to complete his fellowship at UMass Sports & Exercise Medicine in Worcester, MA. He is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine.
During his fellowship training, Dr. Ponti was a team physician for the Triple-A Worcester Red Sox, as well as the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and Holy Cross. Dr. Ponti specializes in Sports Medicine and is the Affiliate Instructor of Sports Medicine in the Department of Family Medicine at the T.H. Chan School of Medicine UMass Chan Medical School.
Dr. Ponti’s philosophy of care is centered around believing that a physician should strive to educate, inform, and empower their patients to make the best clinical decisions. As he is trained in primary care, he also believes in treating the patient as a whole and taking into account all of their medical conditions and history when treating them.
He is an avid Boston sports fan and is especially passionate about baseball. In addition, Dr. Ponti volunteers at a summer camp for children infected with or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Today was my first meeting with Dr. Ponti (and his student intern, [Name]). I immediately felt comfortable when he walked in, introduced himself and [Name] and started to discuss my case. He was gentle with manipulating my injured areas, while taking the time to ask me questions about my pain and comfort level, as well as my range of motion. Dr. Ponti is clearly a master of his craft as he pointed out different things for [Name] to notice, but explained his area of concern to my husband and I, as well. He established a treatment plan moving forward and answered every one of my questions. I left the office knowing that my injuries will have an end as the road ahead is being paved by the best. I am so blessed to have been assigned to Dr. Ponti's service.When I see him he has knowledge of my orthopedic concerns and he discusses a plan for my care and follow up treatment. He has ordered an MRI of my right hip to further evaluate what damage there is.I am very grateful to be followed by this physician.

When I fractured my foot in two places, this office, especially Dr. Ponte and one of the nurses at the front station with my paperwork for my FMLA, they were extremely, incredibly forthcoming with what they knew and they were very helpful. I really wish that Dr. Ponte actually was an internal medicine person because he is the best person to talk to for having the best bedside manner, meeting the requisites or requirements for South Coast, which is within he works for, and then also his personal side of where he wants to take care of the patients.

The... shot process went very well. Dr. Ponti is very professional as was his aide for that day. I don't recall his name. But anyway, he did an excellent job preparing, and is very nice to work with.
