Living with a Cardiac Device

For patients with cardiac devices such as pacemakers, “leads,” or wires, may need to be removed in cases of infection, malfunction or to allow the use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Southcoast offers comprehensive services to manage and remove leads.

“A lot of work has been done to create a system of care that allows procedures such as lead extractions to be done safely,” says Arnoldas Giedrimas, MD, who specializes in these complex procedures. “This requires a lot of coordination between electrophysiology, anesthesia and cardiac surgeons.”
