Southcoast Health is committed to ensuring its website is accessible to its users, including individuals with disabilities. We strive to provide an inclusive digital experience for all website visitors.

Our Commitment

Southcoast Health has designed and developed its website using the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Levels A and AA. These guidelines help ensure website content is:

  • Perceivable – Information can be presented in different ways
  • Operable – Interface components are functional for all users
  • Understandable – Information and operation is clear
  • Robust – Content works with various assistive technologies

Accessibility Conformance

A comprehensive Accessibility Audit of the website, southcoast.org was conducted in 2025 to evaluate compliance with:

  • WCAG 2.2 (Levels A and AA)
  • Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act

The Accessibility Audit included automated testing and manual evaluation using screen readers (NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and keyboard navigation across multiple browsers and operating systems.

Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT)

A VPAT documents the website’s compliance with web accessibility standards.

MyChart Statement

Epic targets conformance with WCAG 2.1 AA standards in its web-based and mobile platform-based patient experience applications. Note that the Epic mobile platform-based applications rely on capabilities in the iOS and Android operating systems to target some parts of the standards. MyChart currently targets conformance with these standards as part of the MyChart Mobile platform on iOS and Android smartphones.

MyChart utilizes both automated testing tools and manual testing processes throughout our development cycle. The primary set of testing criteria is based on the Level AA criteria in the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. A supplementary evaluation against Section 508 of the Federal Rehabilitation Act is also included.
