About Nicholas Martin, MD, CAQSM
Nicholas Martin, MD, CAQSM attended Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Health Science. He then obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Massachusetts Chan Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts. He remained at the UMass Chan Medical School where he completed a residency in Family Medicine through the Barre Family Health Center and a fellowship in Primary Care Sports and Exercise Medicine. He is board certified through the American Board of Family Medicine and holds an additional certification in Sports Medicine.
Dr. Martin’s philosophy of care is based on the idea that physicians should always strive to find the right treatment, for the right patient, at the right time. He believes the key to finding the best outcome for each patient comes from taking a holistic look at the numerous factors that impact a patient’s health. Having personally struggled with sports related injuries as a young athlete, Dr. Martin remembers the way his physician made him feel understood as a patient and he aims to provide the same level of care in his practice.
Throughout his training, he had the opportunity to work with team physicians, covering football, hockey, baseball, basketball, and mass participation events. As part of his fellowship, Dr. Martin was able to serve as a team physician for the Worcester Red Sox as well as collegiately at the Division I, II, and III levels with local schools including College of the Holy Cross and Assumption University. Attending these games and working with these teams gave him the opportunity to witness the great impact Sports Medicine has on the ability to help players bounce back and return to doing what they love after an injury.
When not at work, Dr. Martin can be found watching whichever Boston sports team is playing, working on DIY projects, woodworking, and spending time with his wife and two cats. He also volunteers as a mentor at his alma mater, Northeastern University, working with college students to help prepare them for their education and careers in medicine.

Dr. Nicholas Martin is an awesome doctor. His bedside manner is amazing and any questions that I've asked, he's helped me and given me the answers and stuff I didn't understand he explained to me. He's just awesome all around and he helped me with my leg and I would recommend him to everyone and anyone I know.

Dr. Martin was very professional and put me at ease. He explained everything in a considerate and kind way. He gave me three options and said to take my time. He was great. The only problem was I had to wait 15 minutes to check in because they had only one staff checking in and she was on the phone with a patient for the whole time. She apologized to me but maybe have two staff to check in.
It was a wonderful visit. My fears were alleviated and everything was in the office! X-ray, exam, and treatment were steps away, it was so efficient. Thank you!

I has arrived with significant foot pain & swelling not related to reason for appt. Staff put me in a wheelchair & assisted me thru out my visit, especially the med assistant & MD.

Dr Martin was super attentive and very thorough. The x-ray staff was lovely and super timely, which is why dr Martin not coming in for 45 minutes was more offputting. Once there, he was fantastic though.
I felt that Dr. Martin took his time in explaining everything to me in ways I could understand which was very helpful. Most Drs rush through the appts but I felt he took his time.

Communication with central scheduling was terrible and there was no way to contact the provider directly. I tried to get a message over to the office 4 times in a week but never got a response. Poor customer service!

EXPLAINED PERFECTLY OPTIONS TO DO
This is the first time I've seen Doctor Martin. I'm seeing him for injections for my hip pain. He was very caring and professional and sympathetic to my needs. He explained the procedures to me before we went through them and answered all my questions and I was really moved by how compassionate he is. Great Doctor and a great staff.
It has been three years since my fall many doctors many different procedures. After my procedure with You guys I took it easy and the following day I felt like a million bucks. Thank you for reading my chart taking the time to talk to me, and giving me the relief I wanted for so long…awesomeness!!
Took time to talk about goals for this treatment,showed me x- ray & ultrasound images & explained them in detail. While doing treatment explained each step & what I might feel before proceeding with each step. I really appreciated this. Discussed aftercare & gave written info on same which were clearly understandable and discussed possible side effects of the treatment.
I arrived early even earlier than the doctor arrived and when he came in and saw me, he immediately brought me in to the examining room. He made it known that it was OK and he wasn't upset by the fact that they arrived early. I did keep apologizing. Dr. Martin took very good care of me and I really like going to him with my shoulder issue.
