Cindy Turse Grateful Patient

What started as a struggle to walk comfortably turned into a story of healing and hope. With the help of her Southcoast Health team, Cindy is walking strong again – grateful for the care and compassion that changed her life.

When Cindy began experiencing worsening pain in her hip, she knew it was time to seek help. What started as occasional discomfort had gradually become constant pain. During a trip to Hawaii and Japan, Cindy realized just how bad it had gotten.

“I could barely walk some days,” she shared. “That’s when I knew I needed to do something about it.”

Back home, Cindy was referred to Arthur Manoli, MD, orthopedic surgeon at Southcoast Health Orthopedics. From her very first appointment, she felt confident she was in capable, caring hands.

“Dr. Manoli was understanding,” she said. “He took the time to answer every question and never once talked down to me. He kept me informed every step of the way—before, during, and after surgery—so I always knew what to expect.”

Cindy underwent a total hip replacement at Charlton Memorial Hospital, where she says the care she received exceeded all expectations.

“The entire team was amazing,” she said. “From the pre-op process through recovery, everyone made me feel comfortable and confident.”

A key part of her experience was Nurse Navigator Cheryl Ellis, who guided Cindy through every stage of her surgical journey.

“Cheryl was a constant voice of support,” Cindy recalled. “She was always available, always patient, and just a delight to work with. She made sure I had everything I needed and fully understood every part of the process.”

In appreciation for their skill and compassion, Cindy nominated Dr. Manoli, his team and Cheryl as Southcoast Stars—a heartfelt thank you to the people who helped her walk comfortably again.

Now pain-free and back to enjoying her daily life, Cindy is filled with gratitude.

“I can’t say enough about Southcoast Health,” she said. “Dr. Manoli, his team, and Nurse Navigator Cheryl all went above and beyond. They treated me like a person, not just a patient—and that made all the difference.”
