Visitation Policies

Southcoast Hospital is a patient-focused setting. We understand the need for our patients to have visitors. Visitors such as family and friends often provide support and comfort to loved ones while in the hospital. For the protection of Southcoast Health’s patients, employees and providers, please read and adhere to the following policies:

LUKE’S HOSPITAL IS A WEAPONS-FREE FACILITY

For the safety of our patients, visitors and staff, we have installed weapons-detection systems at our Main Lobby and Emergency Department entrances to help maintain a secure and welcoming setting for everyone.

Patients and guests should return any prohibited items to their vehicles, or they can be placed in an amnesty box available to you at both entrances, allowing you to safely and anonymously deposit weapons with no questions asked. Items placed in the amnesty boxes will not be returned.

HOSPITAL VISITING HOURS: 10am – 8pm

MATERNITY VISITING HOURS: 11am – 2pm and 5pm – 8pm (Charlton Memorial and St. Luke’s hospitals)

ALL VISITORS MUST:

Show photo ID and receive a badge
Individuals experiencing respiratory or flu like symptoms are discouraged from visiting. If you must visit, a mask is required.

Maternity/Family Centered Unit:*

• Patients in Labor and Delivery will be allowed up to two birth partners

Surgical Patients and Same Day Surgery Center:*

• ONE visitor will be allowed to visit and/or accompany a patient

Emergency Department:*

• Visitors allowed at the discretion of the care team

*Exceptions:

Two visitors per day are allowed for patients with COVID-19. Visitors must adhere to droplet precautions, including hand hygiene, before entering and after exiting the room. They must wear a surgical mask at all times in the patient room.

The following are also invited to visit or accompany a patient:

Parents of infant and pediatric patients
Designated support person for patients with disabilities
Allowed by clinical teams for unique circumstances

Our visitation policy is subject to change according to the prevalence of COVID-19 or other diseases within our region or organization, and/or recommendations provided by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health.

Tobey Hospital Parking

Please check below for changes to patient parking and access to Emergency Department and other services.

Patient parking is now located in the front section of the west parking lot on High Street, at the front of Tobey Hospital.
Patient access to the temporary emergency room location is through the hospital’s main entrance on High Street – not through the back of the hospital where it previously was.

At Southcoast Health hospitals, we care for visitors too. Enjoy fresh meals at our cafeterias in Fall River, New Bedford and Wareham, MA, or use 24/7 vending machines nearby. Join us for breakfast, lunch, dinner or a quick snack.

Charlton Memorial Hospital

Cafeteria Monday – Friday 
Breakfast: 6:30am to 10am
Lunch: 11am to 2pm
Dinner: 4pm to 6:30pm

Light Fare: 1:30pm to 4pm (serving grab-and-go, salad, sandwiches and snacks)

Lobby Café
Located in the main lobby of Charlton Memorial Hospital, the lobby café is a great place to go for light refreshments. The main lobby kiosk is open 7am to 8pm 7 days a week.

St. Luke's Hospital

Cafeteria Monday – Friday
Breakfast: 6:30am to 10am
Lunch: 11am to 2pm
Dinner: 4pm to 6:30pm

Light Fare: 1:30pm to 4pm (serving grab-and-go, salad, sandwiches and snacks)

Lobby Café
Located in the main lobby of St. Luke’s Hospital, the café serves Jim’s Organic Coffee, breakfast sandwiches, Danish, muffins cold beverages, hot soup, fresh grilled paninis, grab-and-go salads, sandwiches and snacks. Open 7 days a week from 8:30am-6:30pm.

Family and friends who wish to learn about a patient’s status can call the hospital directly. Please note that patients have the right to limit access to information and status.
