About Matthew Philips, MD
Dr. Philips is a neurological surgeon in practice with Southcoast Neurosurgery. He is on the medical staff at St. Lukes Hospital in New Bedford, Hospital Charlton Memorial in Fall River and Hospital de Tobey in Wareham.
A native of New Bedford, Dr. Philips is a graduate of Yale University School of Medicine. He completed a residency in neurosurgery at the University of Pennsylvania and subspecialty fellowship training in complex and reconstructive spinal surgery.
He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Joint Sections of Trauma and Critical Care and Spinal and Peripheral Nerves and North American Spine Society.
In addition to spinal reconstruction, Dr. Philips has a special interest in spine tumors, degenerative disease of the spine, brain tumors, traumatic brain injury and surgical treatment of epilepsy.
Dr. Philips is board certified in neurological surgery.

I got my first appointment right away. The second one that I was hoping for, I guess the doctor was busy, but I would have liked a couple of questions answered, but I think I'll have time for that.
A few times I waited more than a half hour
First time meeting with this doctor. He was very easy to talk to and asked the right questions. I felt comfortable and confident that he might be able to address my condition with surgery.

Dr. Phillips was very educated in his specialty, provided great examples, read and showed me pictures of my MRI which was not done with any other provider. If I ever needed surgery in the future, I'd trust his m to work on me.

I think Dr. Phillips is the best, best, best neurosurgeon in the East Coast. I mean, he's the best provider. I'm sorry, I'm not saying it correctly, but there is no other neurosurgeon in our area. Even in Boston, he's the best. So I tell everybody, if you need any kind of neurological stuff done to see him, he's fantastic. He's caring and he's just so smart about everything and he's a really nice person too. Thank you.

Instead of having to go to Dartmouth to see dr Philips cuz I don't drive the secretary was able to get dr p to Fall River to see me and he relieved me that my next brain surgery won't be as bad as the last

My needs are always taken care of
Dr. Philips has been my neurosurgeon for 24 years and has got me back on my feet every time from the surgery and kept me from having surgery many other times. So yes, he has provided me well and he's a great man and we highly respect him and we refer him to many people. So I hope that helps.
