About Joseph Lifrak, MD
Dr. Lifrak graduated cum laude with departmental honors in biology from Tulane University in New Orleans. He then earned his medical degree at the Brown University School of Medicine in Providence.
Dr. Lifrak completed a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and a knee reconstruction/sports medicine fellowship at the Jewett Orthopedic Clinic in Winter Park, Fla.
He is a member and past president of the Rhode Island Orthopedic Society. His clinical interests are focused on sports medicine and knee reconstruction, including total knee replacements, ACL surgery and knee arthroscopy.
Dr. Lifrak is also active in the Providence College athletic programs, with specific responsibility as the team orthopedic physician for Providence Friars Ice Hockey team.

dr Lifrak is one of the best doctors I have.
Dr Lifrak is always well informed when he walks in the room. He has reviewed tests and previous visits and can pull past events and treatments into his conversation WITHOUT reading from the computer. That's what makes him so awesome!

Knowledgeable and prompt
From the receptionist to the physician, I was treated with respect. Dr Lifrak's procedure is always done without discomfort. I was seen on time and follow up appointment was at my convenience
It was my first visit. Staff very friendly and helpful. Doctor very personable and helpful. Directed me to another southcoast doctor who could correct my problem.
The doctor saw me in a timely manner. After he saw me he went out to get paperwork that describes pre surgery excersises and paperwork pretaining to strenthening my leg as well as my whole body helping to make me fit for knee replacement.He showed me a knee model and explained the difference between a partial ( which I have in my right knee) and a full replacement that I'm being scheduled for.This was the first time I'd seen such a model, and told what I was looking at.
My experience was such a good one from beginning to end. The receptionist was friendly and efficient, the xray tech was patient with me a senior citizen.Doctor Lifrak explained everything in a manner I understood about my concerns. The entire appointment was completed in a very timely manner because of their professionalism.
