About Barbara Soares, MD
Barbara Soares, MD, received her Doctor of Medicine degree from the Boston University School of Medicine and completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center. She is also MSCP certified.
Dr. Soares is licensed to practice in both Massachusetts and Rhode Island. She is a member of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the Massachusetts Medical Society and the North American Menopause Society. She is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as a NAMS Certified Menopause Practitioner.
Her clinical interests include menopause management, hormone replacement therapy and abnormal pap smears.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her husband and her three sons.

Check in was quick and easy.The nurse got my visit off to a good start.Dr. Soares is very personable, listens and provides very thorough, clear and helpful information so that together we can navigate best practices for my health. My visit was positive, and I left feeling great about the care I received.

From the time I walked into the office the receptionist and MA were wonderful. They were friendly, very pleasant and put my anxiety at ease. Dr. Soares was very knowledgeable, patient, and took her time explaining my options and the possible risks to me. Having been to a previous ob/gyn that wouldn't help me and then to encounter Dr. Soares was life changing. Something she said that no other doctor ever has was "it's your choice". For the first time I felt heard. I am thrilled to have a doctor such as Dr. Soares managing my care. Some would say I'm bias because I work for Southcoast but the truth is compared to my previous care with B&W I'm just blown away by the passion and care Southcoast has for its patients. I would strongly recommend this doctor to family and friends without hesitation.
I was only supposed to have a consult meeting today, but the staff were able to change the visit to an annual checkup which was very helpful because now I won't have to drive out to wareham for another year.
Dr. Soares is super easy to talk to and always shows concern for my wellbeing.

This was my first visit with Barbara Soares, NP. It was an excellent appointment. She took the time to carefully review not only my GYN history but my whole health profile. She offered me some great input and education about a medication I've been taking, including how to administer it. She answered my questions with patience. A wonderful provider!!

Dr Soares is kind and professional. She is knowledgeable in menopause care which is difficult to find. I feel she is a good advocate for women's health overall.
