25 Local Students Win Scholarships to Study for Healthcare Careers

25 area students pursuing higher education in healthcare-related fields have been awarded $1,000 college scholarships from the Southcoast Health Ambassadors in 2023.

The Southcoast Health Ambassadors is a Southcoast Health tax-exempt, non-profit public charity formed in 2021 when the Charlton Memorial Hospital and St. Luke’s Hospital Auxiliaries and the Tobey Hospital Guild joined together. This group supports patient services, develops partnerships within the community to strengthen outreach, promotes healthcare careers through scholarships, and supports the Southcoast Health gift shops, among other services.

2023 Scholarship Winners:

Brooke Macedo attended BMC Durfee High School and plans to study chemistry and pre-med. She was awarded the Rev. Dr. Robert P. Lawrence Memorial Scholarship.

Abigail Goodwin attended Upper Cape Cod Regional Technical High School and will be pursuing a career in nursing. She was awarded the Braitmayer Family Scholarship.

Julia Foye attended Old Rochester Regional High School and will be pursuing a career as an occupational therapist. She was awarded the Wylde Family Scholarship.

Holland Erickson attended Bishop Stang High School and is pursuing a degree in Nursing. She was awarded the BayCoast Bank Scholarship.

Emmanuella Lawrence attended Old Rochester High School and will be pursuing a career in biochemistry. She was awarded the First Physicians Corporation Scholarship.

Ava Dugan attended Middletown High School and will be pursuing a career in nursing. She received the BayCoast Bank Scholarship.

Brady Poirier attended Fairhaven High School and will be studying pre-med next year. He received the Dr. Richard H. Warburton Memorial Scholarship.

Joshua Wood attended Tiverton High School and will be pursuing a career in physical therapy. He received the Millie Stravros Memorial Scholarship.

Lauren Kuchar attended BMC Durfee High School and will be pursuing a career in biochemistry. She received the In Memory of Dr. Amine B. Maalouf Scholarship.

Lynne Kasper attended Apponequet Regional High School and will be pursuing a career in nursing. She received the Sullivan Family Charitable Fund Scholarship.

Madison Ryder attended Middleborough High School and will pursuing a career in nursing. She received the scholarship from Dr. Robert Ronan and Dr. Nazanian.

Katie Carlisle attended Bishop Stang High School and is continuing her education to become a psychologist. She received the Southcoast Behavioral Health Scholarship.

Tiffany Jablonski attended Carver High School and will have a concentration in health science studies in college. She received the Phyllis Upham Memorial Scholarship.

Amiritha Santosh attended Apponequet Regional High School and will have a concentration in biology and will be pursuing a pre-med track.  She received the Charlton Memorial Hospitalist Scholarship.

Bridget Gallagher attended Bishop Stang High School and will be pursuing a career in nursing. She received the Kristine Winterson Scholarship.

Noah Sowle attended Westport High School and will have a concentration in biology and will be pursuing a pre-med track. He received Dr. Didi P. Theva Scholarship.

Reagan Rock attended Old Rochester Regional High School and will be pursuing her career in biology. She received the Paul John Coffey Scholarship.

Julia Matos attended BMC Durfee High School and will be studying pre-med. She received the Ann Petrella Memorial Scholarship.

Hannah Lima attended Dartmouth High School and will have a concentration in biology next year. She received the Dr. Didi P. Theva Scholarship.

Vanessa Leigh Bucha attended New Bedford High School and will be pursuing a degree in nursing.  She received the Tonya and Tracy Johnson Scholarship.

Kate Magalhaes attended Fairhaven High School and will have a focus in health sciences next year. She received the John Leimert, MD & Christine Leimert Scholarship.

Kaelyn Rose attended Somerset Berkley Regional Technical High School and will be pursuing a career in nursing. She received the Elaine & Anthony Kucikas Scholarship.

Iliana Marshall attended Bishop Stang High School and will have a concentration in biology with a pre-med track. She received the Dr. Ming Da Qu Scholarship.

Harrison Costa attended Bishop Stang High School and plans to continue his education to become a biomedical engineer. He received the Sean M. Gannon Memorial Fund of The Cape Cod Foundation Scholarship.

Isabella Russo attended Wareham High School and will be pursuing a career in biology and pre-med. She received the Dorothy Rasmussen Memorial Scholarship.
