El Hospital Tobey de Southcoast Health, reconocido por su excelencia clínica en cirugía robótica

Southcoast Health’s Tobey Hospital in Wareham recently achieved accreditation from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.

Tobey is now the second Southcoast Health hospital to earn this recognition, exemplifying the community health system’s commitment to high-quality patient care and safety. Status as an accredited SRC Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery means that the program has met nationally and internationally recognized standards of excellence in patient care.  

“The field of robotic surgery is continually advancing and the ability to exceed clinical benchmarks and guidelines bringing the latest innovation to our patients requires a full team effort,” said Dr. Dennis La Rock, Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Officer at Southcoast Health. “With this additional recognition, we are proud to celebrate the high-quality care we provide across the South Coast region from Rhode Island to Cape Cod.”

1. La acreditación SRC ayuda a los pacientes a identificar a los proveedores que han cumplido rigurosas normas para ofrecer una atención perioperatoria y de seguimiento a largo plazo de alta calidad, y a distinguirlos de los que no lo han hecho.

Los centros sanitarios y los cirujanos que solicitan una acreditación del SRC se someten a un exhaustivo proceso de evaluación e inspección para garantizar que el solicitante cumple las normas y requisitos probados del SRC. Estos requisitos incluyen volúmenes quirúrgicos, equipamiento de las instalaciones, vías clínicas y procedimientos operativos estandarizados, junto con un énfasis en la educación del paciente y la evaluación continua de la calidad. Los inspectores instruyen al personal de los departamentos acreditados sobre las mejores prácticas para ayudar a la organización a mejorar sus cuidados y servicios.

In addition to this recognition, 10 Southcoast Health Physicians have achieved accreditation from the SRC as a Surgeon of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.

Robotic surgery is minimally invasive and allows the surgical team to make smaller cuts, with more precision during a procedure. This results in benefits for patients such as less bleeding, smaller scar areas, conservation of bone and healthy tissue and shorter recovery times depending on the individual.
