El Centro de Urgencias Baldwin Makepeace del Hospital Tobey
The community’s largest and most advanced emergency department, the 25,000-square-foot Baldwin Makepeace Emergency Center delivers critical care to 40,000 patients each year.
The Tobey Hospital ED features:
- 25 beds, plus innovative overflow beds providing on-demand capacity
- Dedicated rooms for bariatric patients, behavioral health patients, and patients in need of advanced lifesaving and isolation
- Two large state-of-the-art trauma bays where patients requiring critical care can be treated or stabilized prior to being transferred to the Level II Trauma Center at St. Luke’s Hospital
- Patient-centered design that provides a comforting, intuitive environment for patients and their families, including a dedicated ED café
The Baldwin Makepeace Emergency Center is named for Ian Michael (Mike) Baldwin, who served as a Tobey Hospital trustee and board chair. Mike led the effort to build a new Emergency & Radiology Wing in the early 1980s.
