Southcoast Hospitals Group is Named a 2026-2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Regional Hospital with High Performing Ratings Across Eight Procedures and Conditions
The U.S. News & World Report announced this week that Southcoast Hospitals Group – including Charlton Memorial, St. Luke’s and Tobey hospitals – earned the Best Regional Hospitals designation, ranking #12 on its list of Best Hospitals in Massachusetts, and #2 in the Providence Metro Area for 2026-2027.
This year, only 505 hospitals earned a spot on the list, and Southcoast Hospitals Group earned the High Performing distinction for providing exceptional care and treatment in the eight procedures and conditions below:

The ‘High Performing’ rating is the highest distinction a hospital can earn as part of U.S. News’ Best Hospitals Procedures & Conditions ratings. This year, U.S. News evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals across 14 adult specialties and 23 procedures and conditions; fewer than half earned recognition in any of those 37 areas of care.
In addition to the regional rankings, Southcoast Hospitals Group was recognized as a Best Regional Hospital for Community Access. This means thatthe system excels in caring for patients across all socioeconomic groups in the community while maintaining high quality care.
The U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings serve as a starting point for patients and families, who should consult with their personal physicians when making specific healthcare decisions. The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology y Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
