Katherine Macarthur, MD earned a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Tufts University in Medford, MA, followed by their Doctor of Medicine from Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston.
Dr. Macarthur is dedicated to providing patient-centered care that considers the broader context of each individual’s life. They strive to create an affirming and authentic space for patients to share their values and their whole selves and fosters meaningful relationships with patients, serving as both an advocate and guide while encouraging the patient’s autonomy. Committed to accessible and equitable healthcare, they believe in caring for the whole person through long-term partnerships.
Drawn to medicine by a love of science and a desire to help others they chose family medicine because they feel it allows them to build authentic connections and support patients in making informed, evidence-based decisions.
Dr. Macarthur is proud to work for Southcoast Health because of its commitment to serving and reinvesting in the community while providing high quality, accessible care.
Outside of medicine, they enjoy reading fantasy novels, caring for their two cats, traveling, and ballet dancing.

My Dr Shube retired and I had to wait 8 months for this get established appointment with Dr MacArthur. I've been a patient there for over 30 years.

Dr. MacArthur and the office staff are excellent. They treat you with respect, I was seen in a timely manner and time was taken to discuss my health needs. I am very blessed to have Dr MacArthur as my provider. She is wonderful.

I have no complaints for Swansea Family Group in Swansea Ma. Dr. Macather is an excellent new physician who really cares for her patients and listens to them. The nurses in the office are well trained and very nice.

I have never been so impressed with any provider that I have had. I had all the time I needed to relate my medical issues and ideas and to ask questions. Dr MacArthur graciously answered every one and shared her expertise with me. I am so grate to have her as my primary care physician.

Yes, I had a very good experience with my Dr. Macarthur. She was incredible with her bedside manners and she took time to listen to me. The triad nurse, however, did not review my chart ahead of our visit or when she was speaking with me, which caused a lot of confusion.

This provider is the only one who has made me feel heard. As a young chronically ill patient, I have been tossed around and dismissed due to my complex illnesses. This provider is the asset that Swansea family desperately needed.
The facility was really clean. Everyone was polite. Staff was polite. Things went really well. The provider was amazing. She answered every question I needed to ask in a manner that someone elderly could understand the words and what she didn't know. She would find out for me. So they were amazing. I would recommend the provider and the facility to anyone.

Dr MacArthur was great. they came in knowing my child had autism and likely had sensory issues and if there was anything they could do to make him most comfortable. It was very reassuring that they were aware of his specific needs and was willing to adapt to whatever would work best for him.
