Tasnim Imran, MD, MPH, FACC

Southcoast Health is pleased to announce that the not-for-profit community health system has named Tasnim F. Imran, MD, MPH, FACC as the new Medical Director of Cardiac MRI.

A cardiac MRI is an advanced imaging test that provides highly detailed pictures of the heart using a strong magnet and radio waves. This technology allows physicians to clearly see the heart muscle, chambers, and blood flow, helping them assess how well the heart is functioning. By identifying signs of damage, inflammation, or impaired pumping, a cardiac MRI supports accurate diagnosis and guides physicians in selecting the most effective treatment plan for each patient.

“My passion lies in cardiovascular prevention and in using advanced imaging, particularly cardiac MRI, to diagnose heart conditions accurately and non-invasively. At the center of my practice is a simple philosophy: to help patients add life to their years and years to their lives,” said Dr. Imran. “I look forward to leading this program and expanding the capabilities we offer to our community.”

Dr. Imran earned her Master of Public Health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Clinical Research. She furthered her medical education with an Internal Medicine Residency at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School. She has also completed fellowships in Preventive Cardiology and Cardiovascular Medicine.

“We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Imran to Southcoast Health Heart & Vascular,” said Peter Cohn, MD, Chief of Southcoast Health Heart & Vascular. “Her leadership in cardiac MRI and her patient-centered approach align perfectly with our mission to deliver the highest standard of cardiovascular care.”

She has contributed to numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and has served as a preceptor, offering guidance and practical training to students, interns, and new practitioners. She also plays an active role in research mentoring.

Dr. Imran will be conducting regular rounds at both Charlton Memorial and St. Luke’s Hospitals, enhancing patient care and collaboration across our cardiac imaging services.

Outside of Southcoast Health, Dr. Imran is a member of the Society for Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance and the American College of Cardiology.
