About Stephen Finney MD
Dr. Stephen Finney is originally from New Orleans, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University with a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences then subsequently obtained a Master in Science at Mississippi College. Dr. Finney earned his Doctor of Medicine at the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine. Following medical school, he completed his residency in Family Medicine at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, Louisiana, where he served as Wellness Director. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine, American Board of Obesity Medicine, and the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine.
Dr. Finney implements more of a holistic approach when treating all his patients. He promotes lifestyle modification that focuses on foods, exercise, and mindfulness through meditation technique. In addition, he practices motivational interviewing and listens to his patients in an efficient manner. Dr. Finney believes that health and happiness is achieved through realistic goal setting. His clinical interests include family medicine, obesity medicine, and LGBTQ health.
He is a member of the American Medical Association, American Academy of Family Physicians, American College of Lifestyle Medicine, Massachusetts Academy of Family Physicians, Obesity Medical Association, and World Professional Association for Transgender Health.

I called the office for a personal medical issue I was having. The nurse I spoke with was gentle and kind. I got an appointment the same day to see my PCP. Dr. Finney was kind , he listened and really helped me and eased my mind. Dr. Finney also set up referrals and follow up visits for me. I had labs taken in the office and results within hours, with a personal message from Dr. Finney. I couldn't ask for a better visit or better staff. Thank you to the team I appreciate each one of you.
Dr Finny is absolutely the best. I was apprehensive at first, he looked very young… Like he could be my son. That means I'm getting older. I'm a 65-year-old woman and I do not normally have male doctors. I don't find them compassionate enough. Nothing could be further from the truth with Dr Finny. He is absolutely compassionate and listens. A lot of doctors do not listen they let their egos get in the way, when we the patients know our bodies and are our best advocates. Wonderful experience with this Dr. I have three people that are on his waiting list and have already gotten him 14 new patient patients. I would never ever recommend him if he sucked. Thank you, Dr Finny for always listening, and not being a jerk like some doctors, we know.
I was seen right away and treated with respect. The medical assistant and Doctor explained everything they were doing in a professional way, and a way I could understand. The facility was clean and I didn't have to wait to get labs.
The Dr. made me feel comfortable. He listened to me and was able to discuses my problems in a way I could understand.

This was my first visit with Dr Finney and I was impressed. He was very kind, attentive and easy to talk to. He took the time to listen to my concerns and I didn't feel rushed like most of the dr's I've been to. I am hard of hearing and he was very patient and spoke loud and clear. Dr. Finney is a Dream Come True! He is the best Doctor I have ever had I was blown away by how very comfortable I felt in his exam room and he listens and keeps eye contact and is just so engaging about every question I had for him. Omgoodness where do I begin. I made an appointment for the Dr. I got to the receptionist and I was informed that I had the next day. I'm became overwhelmed. She said let's talk to him even knowing that he was fully booked. He called me in and evaluated me and I was very sick. So called the pharmacy to get my prescription. Also everyone at his office are so kind and helpful. This office is rated #1 in my book.
