About Richard Pin MD, FACS
Dr. Richard Pin is the Executive Chief of Southcoast Health Heart & Vascular.
Prior to assuming this role in 2026, Dr. Pin helped build the Southcoast Health Vascular Surgery program for over 10 years and has served as the Chief of Vascular Surgery at Southcoast Health since 2020.
His clinical expertise and dedication to the expansion of minimally invasive procedures contributed to significant growth within the system’s Heart & Vascular program. Today the team delivers the highest-caliber surgical care to patients across the region.
Dr. Pin specializes in minimally invasive endovascular procedures as well as open vascular surgery. In 2024 and 2025, he was named to Newsweek’s List of America’s Best Doctors in the Vascular Surgery category – a recognition that reflects his commitment to achieving the best outcomes for his patients.
Dr. Pin is fellow of the American College of Surgeons and is board certified in vascular surgery and a registered physician in vascular interpretation. He also serves on the Vascular Value Analysis Committee, where he helps assess innovative technologies to continually advance our patient care.
He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, where he graduated first in his class. He then completed his general surgery residency at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston followed by a fellowship in vascular surgery at the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore.
His clinical interests include aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, peripheral arterial disease, deep venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, venous insufficiency, varicose veins, thoracic outlet syndrome, and dialysis access.

Efficiency and Professionalism
When I was hospitalized in January-February, I called Dr. Pin "God's hands." The surgery on my carotid artery was successful, and the ultrasound in May confirmed that success. The only issue I had with this most recent meeting with Dr. Pin was the shortness of my interaction with him.
Everyone in this office were very courteous and pleasant. Dr. Pin is a very thorough physician and a pleasure to see, which is a very rare thing for a patient to say. Not too many people enjoy seeing their doctors.
