About Rebecca Zapf-Pedraza MD
Rebecca Zapf-Pedraza, MD earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Central Connecticut State University in New Britain, Connecticut. She obtained her Doctor of Medicine from the Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at Kent Hospital an affiliation with the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
Dr. Zapf-Pedraza’s clinical interests include caring for patients of all ages, with a focus on preventative care, chronic disease management, harm reduction, comprehensive LGBTQ+ care, and advancing healthcare equity.
Her path to medicine began with an interest in the arts, writing and psychology. After unexpected life circumstances led them to pursue medicine later than some of her peers, she found a natural fit in family medicine. She appreciates the way family medicine brings together creativity, advocacy and science, offering the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in both individual and community wellbeing.
Her philosophy of care centers on making all patients feel heard, cared for, and respected. She believes in getting to know the person behind the medical history – learning about their interests, experiences, relationships, goals, and dreams, and meeting each patient where they are. Dr. Zapf-Pedraza values the flexibility of medicine to create individualized care plans collaboratively, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to health.
When not at work, she enjoys trying new foods, spending time outdoors, listening to music, playing video games, quahogging, gardening and writing.

Why does Southcoast publish survey ratings online?
Southcoast is dedicated to providing patients and consumers with helpful information about the quality of our patients’ experiences. Star ratings published on our physician biography pages are based on actual responses from patients of that particular physician to patient satisfaction surveys that are distributed and processed by a national patient satisfaction survey vendor.
Who receives the survey?
Our vendor sends surveys via SMS or email to all patients seen in our outpatient physician practices who have a valid smart phone number or email address on file with Southcoast Health. Surveys are sent to patients within a few days of their appointment.
How is the Patient Satisfaction Star Rating Calculated?
Star ratings are calculated using an average of all survey responses to each of three questions: Courtesy and Respect of Staff, Provider Overall Rating, and Willingness to Recommend Provider’s Office. The star rating displayed on our physicians’ main biography page represents the average of the three measures for that particular physician.
