About Nirmal Pathak MD
Dr. Nirmal Pathak earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in both chemistry and fine arts from the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He then went on to earn his Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
He completed his Residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at the SUNY Downstate Health Sciences Center in Brooklyn, New York.
It is his belief that patients are unique individuals and don’t always fit into cookie-cutter guidelines and that although guidelines are important they are just meant to guide our decision-making. His philosophy is that medical decisions should always be patient-centered and he respects his patient’s autonomy in their decision-making. He feels that his job as a physician is to inform, educate, and advise his patients and help his patients make decisions that fit within their goals, wishes, and beliefs.
Dr. Pathak chose to practice Hematology and Oncology because he wanted to help guide patients through the complex decision-making processes involved with treating malignant conditions. His personal experiences with family members’ cancer diagnoses help him in advising his patients as if they were his own kin. He strives to provide cutting-edge oncology care and encourages his patients to seek second opinions, himself having experience in the enrolling of patients in clinical trials at higher-level academic centers. He is a strong advocate for patient rights and will always do what he believes is best for his patients and feels that whatever the hurdle, they’ll find a way forward together.
When not at work he enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, two children, and their dog Noodle. He also enjoys artistic endeavors, specifically ceramics and glassblowing.

The medicine takes too long to come upstairs while you're waiting.That's the only thing wrong with this facility.They gotta get it better than that.I waited almost an hour for my medicine unreal
Dr. Pathak and staff listened to my concerns and provided thorough explanations in a clear way.

I personally feel the doctors need more the 15 minutes to treat patients. Dr Pathak is an excellent doctor but I feel I could gain a little more knowledge about my health care if he was allowed a few more minutes to treat me.

Cancer is difficult to deal with, and Dr Pathak takes the time to make you feel heard, to make sure you understand what to expect, and is a great listener. Follows through with the plan. As good of an experience as possible when dealing with something that isn't easy.

The only problem I have is that I cannot get my appointments in the afternoon. I said that's when I need them. They keep giving them to me in the morning and then I have to keep calling back to get them rescheduled.

Everything was done punctually. The people that I dealt with were wonderful. They were very solicitous of information from me, very thorough. Dr. Pathak showed a lot of concern about my breathing and changed the course of my treatment briefly to accommodate a test that he wanted to be have before he would go ahead with my regular infusion. I'm very happy with the care I've gotten at South Coast at the Fairhaven facility and with the medical staff that I've dealt with here. They've been really wonderful.
I liked Dr. Pathak because he took the time to show me the pictures from the CT scan and explain things to me. He was great to do that.

Dr. Pathak is 1000% the best cancer doctor for my mother's care. And the office is so warming to her, even though her memory is going, she feels how they smile.

I very much appreciate Dr. Pathak. I got called into work on the day of my appointment. I really didn't want to miss my appointment because I had some questions I needed to go over with the doctor. I asked him if we could possibly have a tele health visit. And he said no problem. He took his time to explain every question I had in a way I could understand. He is one of the best doctors I have ever seen! And his staff is just as great!
Dr Nirmal explained the information about what the blood test results will mean. It was my first visit there and I felt at ease everyone was really nice .
