About Joseph Lifrak MD
Dr. Lifrak graduated cum laude with departmental honors in biology from Tulane University in New Orleans. He then earned his medical degree at the Brown University School of Medicine in Providence.
Dr. Lifrak completed a surgical internship and orthopedic residency at Brown University, Rhode Island Hospital. He then completed an orthopedic trauma fellowship at Rhode Island Hospital and a knee reconstruction/sports medicine fellowship at the Jewett Orthopedic Clinic in Winter Park, Fla.
He is a member and past president of the Rhode Island Orthopedic Society. His clinical interests are focused on sports medicine and knee reconstruction, including total knee replacements, ACL surgery and knee arthroscopy.
Dr. Lifrak is also active in the Providence College athletic programs, with specific responsibility as the team orthopedic physician for Providence Friars Ice Hockey team.

Dr Lifrak was very informative and understanding but I just felt like the appointment was a little rushed.

Very dismissive just because I'm not an athlete doesn't mean I should be turned away. I have a complete acl tear a partial ligament tear to be told that over time it heals not worried because I'm not an athlete doesn't mean anything. I still need to walk , work, and do everyday. So what is the point of going back if you're not treating me then? Rude

Dr. Lifrak is an excellent surgeon who is very approachable and compassionate.
The doctor was only mildly interested in explaining some issues to me about my arthritis. He was nice but didn't seem very serious or sincere about my case. I have to ask to see my x-ray which he felt he did not have to talk about.

Very understandable, and properly explained and advise for next steps for my knee
Quickly taken into an examining room and did not wait long for the physician.Dr. Lifrak had reviewed my MRI and knew what was going on. He listened to all my concerns and let me review all the questions that I had.He was honest in his assessment and even when that does not agree with another south coast provider I feel that she was looking out for my best interest.
