About John Shapiro MD
Dr. John Shapiro, MD, MPH completed a combined Doctorate of Medicine and Masters in Public Health program at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta University. He went on to receive training in Internal medicine at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Chattanooga, Tennessee. His clinical interests include primary care, geriatric medicine, and diabetes management.
Dr. Shapiro was inspired to become an internal medicine physician because the doctor-patient relationship is so important to him. He believes he can help patients by listening to what’s wrong with them, meeting them where they are, and making recommendations specific to each unique situation.
Outside of work, Dr. Shapiro loves to spend time with his four kids, hiking, gardening, and exploring New England.

Appointment time was met appropriately. Support staff was comprehensive in their questioning and the jobs that they were signed to Dr. Shapiro was supportive, came in knowledgeable about my personal health challenges and asked questions that indicated that he was engaged in making the visit the best it could be.
Dr. Shapiro is a very good doctor. He's understanding and he listens to you and he just explains everything to you. He's very kind.

Dr Shapiro is a excellant Dr. He takes the time to listen to you. Dr Shapiro explains things so you understand . Also is that when my husband and I have an appt we can get it on the same day. Not many offices do this. So glad we have Dr Shapiro as our Dr.

Made a first appointment right away.
Most important thing dr did for me was he listened to me and then explained in simple terms how to keep better health. He also did a through wellness check for me and found a problem that I never realized I had and he corrected it. Dr Shapiro is one of the good guys at southcoast hospital.

The doctor sat outside my room for 15-20 minutes after my vitals were taken before coming into the room. Seems like he could have come in a lot sooner than what he did.

Our first appointment was 50 minutes long with both my husband and me present, covering both our needs. Dr. Shapiro listened to and answered our questions. He had obviously reviewed our earlier records from other providers, and offered his counsel when needed. We both left our appointment feeling that our needs were well met.

The girls in the office are very nice. They're very kind. They tell you everything you need to know. They tell you everything that they have to offer as far as the facility, your health care and everything else. It's the doctor that has an issue.

Dr. John Shapiro is very nice and he listens and is thorough. However, the wait time after the appointment time was rather long. For example, the appointment was for 3:30 PM, but I wasn't seen until sometime after 4PM.
