About Joan Wildenhain NP
Joan Wildenhain, NPC earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Rhode Island College in Providence, RI. She furthered her education and expertise by earning her Master of Science degree in Nursing from the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in Worcester, MA. Prior to joining Southcoast, Joan had experience both as a Registered Nurse and as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner. She has national certification in Fracture Liaison Services, and her clinical interests include fragility fractures and osteoporosis.
Joan’s personal philosophy of care involves listening attentively to each patient’s needs and treating them the way she would treat herself or a family member. Her work is inspired by the ability to positively impact a patients’ quality of life. Joan chose orthopedics for its challenging and rewarding nature and will serve the Southcoast community with the mission of making a difference in people’s lives.
In her free time, Joan enjoys cycling, hiking and spending time with her family.

Joan was very informative and explained things in layman terms even though I am an RN which she didn't know so it makes it very easy for someone to understand as many times people are too nervous to ask questions and leave not understanding what was being said

Per suggestion of getting me an injection in my painful knee was right on. Within two hours the pain was gone and by 5 PM the swelling had dropped.

The provider was wonderful — she listened, she immediately knew what the issue was and provided a treatment plan, and was very kind. The rest of the office staff were also wonderful. The only issue was the length of time I had to wait until I could get an appointment. Modern healthcare, I guess… too few providers.
