About Ahmet Burakgazi MD
Dr. Ahmet Z. Burakgazi received his medical degree from Hacettepe University School of Medicine in Ankara, Turkey. He went on to complete his neurology residency and a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology at George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC, where he also served as Chief Resident.
Prior to joining Southcoast Health, Dr. Burakgazi was a staff neurologist and held academic positions at the Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine, progressing from Assistant to Associate Professor of Neurology. He currently serves on the faculty in the Department of Neurology at the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University.
An accomplished clinician-researcher, Dr. Burakgazi has published widely in respected peer-reviewed journals, advancing the fields of neuromuscular medicine, peripheral nerve disorders, small fiber neuropathy, and general neurology. His body of work includes numerous original studies and case reports. He has also been an invited speaker at both national and regional conferences, presenting on a broad range of neurological topics.
Dr. Burakgazi is highly regarded for his expertise in diagnosing and treating complex neurological conditions. His clinical interests span neuromuscular diseases, peripheral neuropathy, Myasthenia Gravis, ALS, muscular dystrophies, and general neurology. He has a particular focus on chronic headache management—including the use of updated treatment protocols and Botox® injection therapy—as well as movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and essential tremor. He regularly evaluates and manages complex neurological cases using a comprehensive, evidence-based approach.
Board certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and a diplomate of the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine, Dr. Burakgazi combines advanced clinical expertise with a patient-centered philosophy.
A dedicated educator and mentor, he has guided medical students and residents through both research and clinical training, earning multiple Dean’s Excellence in Teaching Awards. He is an active member of the American Association of Neuromuscular & Electrodiagnostic Medicine, the Peripheral Nerve Society, and the American Academy of Neurology.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Burakgazi enjoys traveling the world with his wife, reading, and watching films.

Good listening, genuine concern for my health goals in the coming years.
The nurse, [Name] who took me in for my exam was very nice and conversational. Dr.B was very thorough, asking if there was anything I was concerned about that he may not have touched upon in questioning. From my experience in this office I have gathered that my provider and nurse who took care of me today, take their jobs seriously and care for their patients.
Everything went well with my appointment and was very good with the information.
This Dr is very thorough. He incorporates using nutritional supllements,exercise, and orthopedic appliances. in addition to medication.He is also a good listener and has a kind and helpful demeanor..

Dr. Burakgazi is always attentive, thorough, and genuinely engaged in my care. He consistently asks thoughtful, leading questions that make it easy for me to share important details about my health. I appreciate that he always begins by asking if anything has changed since my last visit. Today, when I mentioned some new symptoms and an upcoming MRI ordered by my PCP, he immediately scheduled follow-up testing and an appointment next week to review the results. I always leave feeling heard and confident in his care.
Appts are always great at this practice. My only complaint is how far out appts are booking. Still love seeing providers here though!

I really don't have anything to say there's plenty of parking. It's very easy to find. I did not have to wait long. Everyone was kind made me feel at home. It's not easy going to see a neurologist. I would definitely recommend him and the facility to anybody else.
Doctor listened to what my conditions are and responded accordingly. For example, my prescription was for a 20MG pill, which I felt were too strong and was breaking in half. The doctor update my prescription for a 10MG pill going forward. THank you for caring!

It's very seldom that I write reviews, but the service at this office was beyond exceptional. The doctor listened to my concerns, took them seriously and recommended the testing to hone in on the causation. I would highly recommend this group for anyone suffering from cognitive issues or dealing with issues pertaining to their brains.

I was seen quickly. Dr. B in neurology had extra extraordinary bedside manners. His exam was very thorough and he explained why he was doing each procedure. He referred me for specific test and explained each test and why those tests were ordered and upon him receiving the results he will be in touch with me for further treatment if necessary. He put me at ease And address my fears.

The appointment went perfectly. I only waited a few minutes before I was called in, the nurse was very courteous and professional, and Dr. Burakgazi took as much time as I needed to talk about and explain my medication options.

This facility charges a facilities charge that is ridiculous. I have had to leave another specialist in this building due to this. I didn't realize the practice continues of charging $410 per visit on top of a specialist charge. How people are expected to be able to do this is beyond me.

I was very nervous to come to this appt, but every staff member was so, so kind to me. The wait was very minimal. The nurse who took my vitals and my history was absolutely fabulous (I wish I could remember her name!). And Dr. Burakgazi was an absolute dream. He listened to everything I had to say and took my concerns very seriously. I left my appt much less nervous and with a plan of action. Absolutely amazing all the way around!!

Dr Burakgazi has helped me tremendously. Migraines may not be devastating as other neurological diagnosis are much more serous however my migraines were debilitating. Dr Ahmet Burakgazi is a careful listener. He strives to have a complete picture of the patient before making recommendations. If one course of treatment doesn't work, he gives careful thought to trying another. I give the highest recommendation to him and his staff.
The experience was great. I was quickly seen. The doctor definitely listened to my concerns and also looked at prior imaging and history and I felt as he was really focused on my health and nothing else during this visit. We discussed what was needed, any other concerns, meds, and monitoring. I was really happy with how the visit went and very comfortable even though it was an initial visit. He listened to my health problems and increased the dosage of my medicine. He scheduled blood tests and an MRI. Through these tests my condition will be monitored.
