About Ahmad Alwassia MD
Ahmad Alwassia, MD graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. In addition, Dr. Alwassia completed his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the George Washington University Hospital. Prior to joining Southcoast Health, he worked full time in pulmonary and critical care for several years in Iowa.
Dr. Alwassia’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in partnering with the patient and their family to reach a diagnosis and provide the best management and treatment options according to the patient’s individual needs. His clinical interests include asthma, COPD, lung cancer diagnosis and staging, pleural effusion, lung nodule and mass evaluation, and critical care.
When not at work, Dr. Alwassia enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.

He explains everything in a caring and kind way.
Everyone in the office was very nice. The doctor answered all my questions. He was very knowledgeable and give me options. What to do..
Everything went well. The person who attended to me before the doctor asked if I had anything that I wanted to mention and I had brought some new insurance cards that I didn't leave at the front desk. She went and she got the person from the front desk so that the insurance cards were updated. This tells me that your office went out of your way to make my visit outstanding. And Dr. Ahmed Alwassy is an excellent physician. I'd recommend him to anybody.
Dr. listens to all our questons and concerns and answers them. He is always sympathetic and has the greatest bedside manner.
The whole experience felt as if I were moving along an assembly line that lacked any recognition of me. Ironically, I have known the building greeter her whole life so we finished a personal conversation and I entered the "assembly line" when I got in the elevator. The doctor, with whom I have been acquainted for several years, treated me professionally and stayed within the 15 minutes allocated.
Having good doctors that listen and understand what people are dealing with in their lives. Maybe allow more time with patients to help them understand when adjusting / changing medications for their conditions.

The staff are very professional and welcoming. They are always kind and wearing a smile to greet you. Dr. Allwassia has a kind and sincere interest in my current condition, taking time to listen to my concerns and guide me into the best care plan to meet my needs. He is very thorough in his explanations and offers his assistance in any way. I appreciate his honest and compassionate demeanor as a physician.
Every time I go to Dr. Alwassia's office, the intake nurse listens to me very carefully. She's very, very sweet, always in good humor, and listens to my comments very carefully, and also asks me all the pertinent questions. And then when Dr. Alwassia comes to me, he has excellent bedside manners. He listens very carefully. I understand everything he says and he explains everything to me. He is a very kind doctor and I feel that he provides very good medical care.

Dr. Alwassia genuinely cares about his patients. He's caring & very easy to talk to. He explains things in a way I completely understand. I feel like I hit the JACKPOT when I became his patient!! He is the PERFECT example of what doctors should be. All the office staff a very nice also. In my opinion you have a wonderful experience the minute you walk into the office until the time you leave.

Dr. Alwassia and the rest of the staff handled a complicated problem, getting me a new order for a CPAP machine from an out of state provider, which I needed since we spent half of our year in Texas.
Yeah, hi, Dr. Alwassia is fantastic. He's done a great job for me. He's done some surgery on my lungs and my condition has really improved since I've started seeing him a couple of years ago. So, yeah, I love the guy. He's great.
