About Ahmad Alwassia MD
Ahmad Alwassia, MD graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. In addition, Dr. Alwassia completed his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the George Washington University Hospital. Prior to joining Southcoast Health, he worked full time in pulmonary and critical care for several years in Iowa.
Dr. Alwassia’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in partnering with the patient and their family to reach a diagnosis and provide the best management and treatment options according to the patient’s individual needs. His clinical interests include asthma, COPD, lung cancer diagnosis and staging, pleural effusion, lung nodule and mass evaluation, and critical care.
When not at work, Dr. Alwassia enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.

Dr. Alwassia and the rest of the staff handled a complicated problem, getting me a new order for a CPAP machine from an out of state provider, which I needed since we spent half of our year in Texas.
Yeah, hi, Dr. Alwassia is fantastic. He's done a great job for me. He's done some surgery on my lungs and my condition has really improved since I've started seeing him a couple of years ago. So, yeah, I love the guy. He's great.
