About Mark Shparber MD
A medical oncologist in the region for more than 20 years, Dr. Shparber has a unique perspective of the needs of cancer patients in our region. He also serves as the medical director for the hospice program at Southcoast VNA.
Dr. Shparber earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine and completed his residency at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, Cornell Medical Center. He completed his fellowship in hematology/oncology at New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center.
He is board certified in medical oncology, hematology and internal medicine.

There was a very long wait today. The waiting area was full, so consequently people were not taken on time. Probably over booked. There was also confusion about my lab work. I eventually had it done after seeing the doctor. This visit was very unlike all my previous visits.

Listened and caring
Dr. Spharber is right on top of my condition new and old. He has a very nice personality and listens to concerns if needed. The nurses are very personable and explains about testing if needed.
The Oncology Department has become my extended family. I am so pleased with the timeliness of appointments, the promptness of providers, and the true care and compassion of all staff there. Kudos to all employed at South Coast Oncology Department.
