About Joann Chang MD
Joann Chang, MD earned her medical degree at Case Western Reserve University’s School of Medicine in Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed her General Internal Medicine Residency through Brown University’s program at Rhode Island Hospital. She is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Chang’s clinical interests include preventative care, complex care management, and mental health.
Dr. Chang chose to become a primary care physician to serve her patients with preventative care. Her personal philosophy of care involves empowering patients to make their best healthcare decisions. Doctor-patient relationships are important to Dr. Chang, and she believes that these healthcare partnerships bring the best possible care.
In her free time, Dr. Chang enjoys reading and practicing yoga.

Dr. Joann Chang has been my primary care physician for several years. Dr. Chang is a wonderful doctor - extremely intelligent, a true professional! She is very attentive, kind and a great listener. She is pro active and very caring. We have a great rapport and I have great respect for her.

At least in my case, my doctor, Joann Chang, is always excellent in terms of treatment and everything else. I wouldn't trade her for any other doctor. She's incredibly good at everything she does; overall, she's an excellent doctor who always diagnoses my problem without fail. Her nurses are also excellent, all very professional. I have nothing bad to say; they are simply excellent in every way.
I called at 11:30 with health issues and they put me in at 2 oclock. Dr Chang is always so thorough and informative. She reviews all my medical issues each visit. Nurses in her office are exceptionally knowledgeable and easy to deal with. In today's environment it is really great to know there are still dedicated and professional staff

As always an efficient and knowledgeable, nurses and dr.'s and teams. Always giving clear and conscience easy to understand medical terminology of what is wrong, what is going be done to fix it and what has to be done in terms of home care. Love the My chart app as it is a key differentiator. It makes me want to use Southcoast for more. I wish you had an integrated podiatrist and dermatoligst.

Dr Chang always listens and cares about her patients.
This was my first visit with Dr. Chang and she made me feel totally comfortable. She was very understanding. She wasn't judgmental. She helped me through the problems I had and made me feel good about them and helped me decide what to do about them.
I went in for an issue. She wasn't going to examine the issue until I had to advocate for myself and request that she do an examination. She was just quick to make a referral.
I waited 30 minutes for the appointment to start. That's my only complaint. Dr. Chang is the best.

Timely appointment, efficient yet friendly process, everything was made very clear. By the next day, several tentative appointments had been made for my follow up. I had to move a couple of them but this was relatively easy as everyone in scheduling was very helpful.
