About Ahmad Alwassia MD
Ahmad Alwassia, MD graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL. He earned his medical degree from the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, MA. In addition, Dr. Alwassia completed his Pulmonary Critical Care Fellowship at the George Washington University Hospital. Prior to joining Southcoast Health, he worked full time in pulmonary and critical care for several years in Iowa.
Dr. Alwassia’s personal philosophy of care is rooted in partnering with the patient and their family to reach a diagnosis and provide the best management and treatment options according to the patient’s individual needs. His clinical interests include asthma, COPD, lung cancer diagnosis and staging, pleural effusion, lung nodule and mass evaluation, and critical care.
When not at work, Dr. Alwassia enjoys spending time with his family, exercising, watching movies, and trying new restaurants.

The staff are very professional and welcoming. They are always kind and wearing a smile to greet you. Every time I go to Dr. Alwassia's office, the intake nurse listens to me very carefully. She's very, very sweet, always in good humor, and listens to my comments very carefully, and also asks me all the pertinent questions. And then when Dr. Alwassia comes to me, he has excellent bedside manners. He listens very carefully. I understand everything he says and he explains everything to me. He is a very kind doctor and I feel that he provides very good medical care.

Dr. Alwassia genuinely cares about his patients. He's caring & very easy to talk to. He explains things in a way I completely understand. I feel like I hit the JACKPOT when I became his patient!! He is the PERFECT example of what doctors should be. All the office staff a very nice also. In my opinion you have a wonderful experience the minute you walk into the office until the time you leave.

Dr. Alwassia and the rest of the staff handled a complicated problem, getting me a new order for a CPAP machine from an out of state provider, which I needed since we spent half of our year in Texas.
