About Sami Assad MD
Dr. Sami Assad earned his Bachelor of Arts with a concentration in Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Allopathic Medicine from St. George’s University School of Medicine in St. Georges, Grenada in the West Indies. He completed his Family Medicine residency at the University of South Alabama in Mobile, Alabama.
His personal philosophy of care is that a little kindness goes a long way. He also tries to personify what he preaches and approaches health from an all-encompassing perspective where diet, exercise, sleep, stress, and mental care all contribute to a well-rounded picture of health. He himself is passionate about exercise and routinely participates in HIIT (High-Intensity Interval Training), CrossFit, and weight training classes. His passion for exercise has also inspired his planning to hike all 40 peaks over 4,000 feet in New Hampshire.
His inspiration to become a doctor came from a personal loss at a very young age. He wanted to be in the know of what was happening and why things were occurring. Those experiences and the want to make sure no one felt in the dark about their healthcare propelled him into medicine. To him being a part of Southcoast Health means having the opportunity to provide care for the community he calls home.
When not at work he loves to take part in his exercise routines and dabbling and experimenting in the culinary arts.

There is only one complaint. I did the check-in onlinea day or two before the appointment. When I arrived for the appointment I was given a clipboard with 4 pages to fill out. The questions were quite similar to the online check-in.
Dr Assad was awesome. As a physician myself, I was duly impressed with his demeanor, his approach to my health and his explanations of my options, etc. Was truly refreshing to have such a great visit in the primary care world. I would hire him for my practice in a minute.

Always great follow through with the plan of care, future appointments with specialists are made immediately, and the staff, from the office personnel to the physicians and medical technicians, is friendly and approachable.
Everything is great. Friendly doctor who is a good diagnostician, listens very well, has effective solutions, and responds fully to online notes. Others in the office are also friendly and helpful. Waiting times are short. The office is far from my home, but worth the drive. And there's a beach view across the street, good for your health!

The only bad thing of the appointment was that I guess the front desk didn't send it through to the staff that I had checked in for my appt so I waited 45min to be seen because the medical staff didn't know I was there. Once I got in the appointment was fine and Dr. Assad and his nurse were great.
