About Michael Messina MD
Dr. Messina started his medical education completing a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at Boston College. From there he furthered his medical studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, receiving his Doctor of Medicine. Michael completed his residency at New Hampshire Dartmouth Family Medicine in Concord.
Dr. Messina’s philosophy of care revolves around providing his patients with the best, most evidence-based care that he’s capable of providing. He strongly believes in listening to his patients and making them feel heard. Dr. Messina believes that doctors provide better medical care when they allow themselves to be human and connect with the human being in front of them.
When not at work, he spends most of his time with his family.

This was my yearly visit to my primary doctor and I had surgery and a new diagnosis to discuss with him. He was very knowledgeable about the changes in my history, changes in meds and my daily routine due to the new diagnosis. He was very thorough about what tests I had done, the results and what tests needed to be done. He was very thorough in explaining everything so that I would understand. It was very nice to have the extra time for the yearly appointment. It was very necessary this year and very appreciated!
Dr. Messina listens and really takes the time to go over everything (tests done over the past year, what's in store for the coming year, results, etc.) I never feel the visit is rushed

Dr Messina explain everything very well
Office staff that is friendly, great attitude, and empathetic. Dr. Messina rocks! My wife and I both think he's awesome. We followed him from his previous place of employment, just to make we didn't lose him as our PCP.

I have been seeing Dr Messina for quite some time. I followed him from Mashpee to Falmouth and from Falmouth to South Coast. He is the most caring doctor. He listens to any and all concerns. Whenever he has to explain something he explains it at my level not over the top like some doctors I have had in the past. He makes sure that you understand what's going on. He's the best doctor I've had in my 63 years of life!

implement system that supports provider being on time. Wait times have been 45-60 minutes, and by the time I see my provider I am so uncomfortable I am not interested in any conversation with him. I feel greatly disrespected and diminished by this. I do not blame the provider but hold your system responsible.
I was in the exam room for over one hour waiting to be seen.
Dr M is a gp role model
Although Dr Messina can run behind, he never rushes you, answers all your questions and is very thorough. I like that he asks about diet, exercise and sleep.
Dr. Massana is a very nice doctor. He listens to his patients very well. However, he is never on time. Quite often he's sitting in a waiting room 30 minutes waiting for him. He's always late unless you get there first thing in the morning. That is his flaw. Other than that, he's excellent. Thank you.

Dr. Messina is very personable and makes you feel as though you are being heard. He is clearly very knowledgeable and explains things in a way that is easily understood. I'm not sure if he is taking new patients right now, but always refer people to him.My only observation during my last visit is that he seemed rushed. It wasn't that I didn't get all of my concerns and questions addressed and answered, I just felt like maybe he was being over-booked, which is a common complaint I have heard in the past regarding Southcoast physicians. It worries me, because I have had several past practitioners just up and leave Southcoast, and am hoping that will not happen again.
The staff, from the minute I walked in were friendly and welcoming. Dr. Messina was friendly and thorough. He understands my history and is helpful in any of my concerns. It was a good visit.
Generally on time today!!! Suggested I use the Lab downstairs to have blood drawn. It was quick and easy.

I was impressed by the time Dr. Messina took to explain and answer my questions. I have hypertension and taking my blood pressure immediately after walking up a flight of stair and a long walk to examination room does not seem to make sense.
I don't have anything bad to say about the office staff, and most importantly, Dr. Messina! He is a young, kind very smart doctor! He takes time to explain things and most important. He always listened to my questions and concerns. I love his professionalism and how he takes care of my health.

Dr. Messina is a great doctor. I felt like he genuinely cared about being a doctor and helping people. I was told by the very nice nurse I had that sometimes he can run behind schedule so just let someone know if I couldn't wait any longer the wait was taking too long. I told her sometimes that is good because it means the doctor is doing their job right and not rushing patients out. Dr. Messina is what a true doctor should be, he listened to my concerns with true attention and addressed everything I had questions about. I can't remember the last time a doctor had the patience and care that Dr. Messina showed toward me.
