About Matthew J. DaCosta PA-C
Matthew J. DaCosta, PA-C earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth in Dartmouth, Massachusetts. He then went on to obtain his Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. He has also been a National Health Services Corps (NHSC) scholar.
His philosophy of care is centered on empathy, kindness, clear communication, and empowerment through knowledge. Matthew’s approach to practicing medicine includes respect and active listening, and he always considers the patient’s personal situation and unique needs regarding their health.
He believes in educating his patients about the most current and evidence-based care in terms that they can understand. In doing so he strives to provide them with the knowledge and practices they need to best care for themselves.
As a New Bedford native, Matthew finds it a great privilege to return to the South Coast and give back to the community that he’s always called home. When not at work he enjoys playing sports, cooking, traveling and spending time with family and friends.

Matthew Dacosta was absolutely the best! First time I had the pleasure of being seen by him & I could not be happier. I was so impressed how he did his homework before he came into the room. He knew everything about my medical history. He was so knowledgeable & I felt like he really listened to me. He took his time and answered all my concerns. He was able to suggest things that I know will help me. Plus, he was so very nice. WOW what a great addition to this office! I hope he is there for a long time!
Matthew got me in his schedule today to rule out more serious diagnoses. He was one of the most thorough PA's I have been to. Blood work and follow ups scheduled. He is an excellent asset to Southcoast.

I needed an appointment as soon as possible because I wasn't feeling well and was able to get in within the hour. The attending Physician Assistant then followed up the same day to talk about the results of the x-ray he ordered.

My husband went in with me and we both were extremely, extremely happy and impressed with this fine young man.
