About Christian S. Pope DO, FACOG, MSCP
Dr. Pope earned his medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. Following his medical internship at Eastern Maine Medical Center, he completed his medical education with residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Mass. through Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston. Dr. Pope is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
He has been a long-standing medical staff member at Southcoast Health’s St. Luke’s Hospital in New Bedford, Mass. Dr. Pope is on the Faculty and Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Brown University School of Medicine where he enjoys teaching at Women and Infant’s Hospital in Providence in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dr. Pope has authored articles in notable peer-reviewed journals and books and serves as an editorial reviewer for the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He is a contributing member in several organizations and societies such as The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Society of Reproductive Medicine, The Massachusetts Medical Society, and The Society of Critical Care Medicine.
He has been practicing medicine in the South Coast providing quality women’s care with clinical interests in medical complications of pregnancy, quality, and safety in women’s health, menopause and teaching and education in women’s health. His personal philosophy of care is treating everyone with respect. Dr. Pope was inspired to become a physician by his family doctor who not only delivered him but cared for his entire family and became his role model and mentor from a young age.
Dr. Pope cherishes the opportunity to provide care for those in his own community, while continuing to see the next generation of patients and families.
When not at work, Dr. Pope enjoys spending time with his family, being outdoors and on the water.

Dr. Christian Pope is the best doctor, the best gynecologist, obstetrician that I have ever had. I will follow him to wherever hospital or wherever facility he is, medical provider, office, wherever he is, I will go because he is an exceptionally great doctor. He's very professional. I was a past patient of Dr Pope's for years at HMA. He was amazing. He went to SC and I stayed with GYN at HMA. When I had serious issues again , I did not feel comfortable where I was so I called Dr Popes office and they got me in right away. I need a procedure. I would not want anyone else. I trust Dr Pope. During a difficult time, I feel comfort knowing he will be taking care of me again. Very grateful.
I was greeted by friendly staff at the front desk, I didn't wait long and was taken for my health intake (weight, blood pressure) but such a nice, sweet nurse. Soon after Dr Pope came in, asked how I was doing, listened to my concerns, discussed treatment and follow up. I'm so happy to be back to his care. Highly recommended this office!!

Dr Pope is truly one of a kind and the best of the best . He not only had excellent bed side manner but also came prepared to go over my surgery which I was going to him for a second opinion. Dr. Pope was not only professional, but he was very compassionate as well. He didn't treat me like "just" a patient, he treated me like a person. This was my first visit with Dr. Pope, who came highly recommended to me by family and friends. I was not disappointed. I was greeted with smiles and pleasant attitudes by office staff and nursing staff. Even though I was promptly informed that Dr. Pope was running behind, it really was not that long of a wait. Dr. Pope instantly made me feel welcome, comfortable, and safe. He was attentive, informative, compassionate, and already has a starting plan in place for me. I'm thankful he is taking me on as a new patient.
