About Alicia Hersey MD
Alicia Hersey, MD earned her Bachelor of Arts in Health and Human Biology from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. She then attended the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University where she obtained her Doctor of Medicine.
Dr. Hersey completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. She chose to specialize in OBGYN services because it allows her to play an active role in patient’s care throughout their lives. Additionally, she enjoys that combination of outpatient, inpatient acute and surgical care.
She is a member of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has written numerous peer reviewed journal articles and abstracts. Her clinical interests include family planning and vulvar skin disorders.
Dr. Hersey believes that trust and autonomy are two of the most important aspects of healthcare. She feels that all patients should be counseled, informed and able to make healthcare decisions that are best for themselves and their families. Her promise to her patients is to take care of them, counsel them, and help them in the exact same way she would want her own family member taken care of.
She enjoys that working at Southcoast Health allows her to provide excellent multidisciplinary care to the community. When not at work, she enjoys getting outdoors with her two dogs, bike riding, trying new recipes, and playing softball.

The office staff was so polite and didn't make me feel like I was bothering them. The lab tech was super kind because I didn't complete my check-in and told me how to do it. My new ob/gynecologist was very accommodating to my fears and concerns. She put me at ease and took care of my issue. Her manner was calm and soothing.

I met Dr. Hersey for the first time. Dr. Hersey made me feel comfortable immediately. The staff was professional and pleasant. Dr. H listened to me and explained exactly what a procedure would entail.
The doctor was very kind and awesome! I was nervous because this was my first gynecologist visit, but she and everyone else made me feel comfortable. I appreciate that Dr.Hersey explained everything that she was doing and showed me some of the tools beforehand.
