About Dennis LaRock MD
Dr. Dennis LaRock is the Executive Vice President and Chief Physician Officer at Southcoast Health, effective March 1, 2024. This role is the senior-most physician leader for the Southcoast Health responsible for ensuring the highest levels of quality clinical care throughout the system.
He has over 25 years of clinical experience at Southcoast Health and extensive experience in laparoscopic and robotic surgery. Dr. LaRock was the first surgeon to perform robotic surgery at Southcoast Health in 2008. Robotic surgery is now the standard of care for many surgical procedures across a number of surgical specialties. Throughout his career, he has introduced a number of new urological procedures in the Greater Fall River area in addition to robotic surgery, including prostate brachytherapy, and has conducted research on cryosurgical ablation for prostate cancer.
Dr. LaRock was named Physician-in-Chief of Surgical Services in 2022, and he will remain in this role for the immediate future as he assesses the new Physician-in-Chief structure that will report to him.
As the Physician-in-Chief of Surgical Services, Dr. LaRock oversees the surgical departments of Urology, Thoracic Surgery, Plastics, Orthopedics, General Surgery, Trauma, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, and the Brain & Spine Center. He will retain these responsibilities in addition to his roles as the Co-Chief of Urology and Chief of Robotic Surgery at Southcoast Health.
Dr. LaRock first became a member of the Southcoast Hospitals Group (SHG) Medical Staff in 1998 and his private practice joined Southcoast Physician Group (SPG) in 2012.
He completed his undergraduate and medical school studies at Boston University and completed his surgical residency in Urology at Tufts New England Medical Center. Later, he became an assistant professor at Tufts University School of Medicine where he has received several “Excellence in Teaching” awards.
Dr. LaRock is board certified in adult and pediatric urology and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Urology. He is a member of the American Urological Association and the Massachusetts Association of Practicing Urologists. He currently sees patients at the Southcoast Health outpatient offices in Fairhaven and Fall River, performing surgical cases in our SHG facilities.

Saw Dr LaRock today for a follow up visit after a minor procedure for kidney stone. Appointment right on time as scheduled.
