About Matthew Spring MD
Dr. Matthew Spring graduated from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine where he obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Biochemistry. He then earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Massachusetts Medical School in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Dr. Spring completed his residency in Internal Medicine at Boston University Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts. He also completed fellowships in Pulmonary and Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine at Boston University Medical Center.
His philosophy of care is centered around empathy, clear communication and education. He believes each patient has a unique story and is eager to hear their concerns and questions. By making it a priority to actively listen to each patient, Dr. Spring believes the most effective treatment plan is one that aligns with the patient’s goals and values.
Outside of work, Dr. Spring enjoys Formula 1 racing, golf, jigsaw puzzles and spending time with his family.

Dr. Spring is one of the best providers I've had at Southcoast. He always listens to me and makes me feel heard and explains things thoroughly. Doesn't make me feel rushed or like he's going to write me a script and send me off as soon as he can. 10/10 I wish more of my specialists were like him. Dr Spring spent an hour with us, explaining difficult news regarding my husbands issues. He took time to clearly explain his cat scan, his end stage 4 COPD systems and answered our questions clearly. He offered help if we needed it anything, answered all of our questions. I have great respect for Dr. Spring and his staff, they helped with a prescription issue by calling the pharmacy and getting us the help we needed. Very much appreciative of their professional, courteous manner.
