About Sagar Patel MD
Dr. Patel is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology, and earned his medical degree from the University of Debrecen Medical Health and Science Center in Debrecen, Hungary.
Dr. Patel previously served as a hospitalist at Southcoast. He completed his residencies in preliminary general surgery and in internal medicine at SUNY University of Buffalo, followed by his fellowship in nephrology at SUNY Stony Brook University Medical Center, both in New York.
Dr. Patel is a member of the American Society of Nephrology, American College of Physicians, and American Medical Association. He has ACLS and BLS certification from the American Heart Association.
His clinical interests are: slowing progress of chronic kidney disease, hypertension management, and kidney stones.
Dr. Patel enjoys spending time fishing and camping. He also enjoys playing the guitar.

Dr. Patel was very informed of my other concerns regarding my health and asked if there was anything I was concerned with. He was very attentive and took his time in explaining results of test and the best course of treatment. This was my first time meeting with him. I rate Dr Patel very highly. He listens well, explains things clearly, and treats me in a friendly way. My appointment today was right on time, the assistant was pleasant and efficient, and Dr Patel came in soon after the assistant was finished.A small administrative weakness: I make each appointment a year out, and usually the office has to reschedule once or twice before the year is up. I write my appointment in my calendar in very light pencil because there's a good chance it will be moved.
I arrived early and was seen promptly. Dr Patel was very pleasant and took the time to explain things on a way that was easy to understand. He was able to reassure me about all my concerns. This was a very positive experience.

Dr Patel reviewed my records before my appointment. He talked to me in a way that I am confident that he is treating me as a whole person rather than a guy that only discusses kidneys. You should give him a raise so he doesn't go elsewhere.
