About Michael Messina MD
Dr. Messina started his medical education completing a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry at Boston College. From there he furthered his medical studies at the University of Massachusetts Medical School, receiving his Doctor of Medicine. Michael completed his residency at New Hampshire Dartmouth Family Medicine in Concord.
Dr. Messina’s philosophy of care revolves around providing his patients with the best, most evidence-based care that he’s capable of providing. He strongly believes in listening to his patients and making them feel heard. Dr. Messina believes that doctors provide better medical care when they allow themselves to be human and connect with the human being in front of them.
When not at work, he spends most of his time with his family.

Dr. Messina is very personable and makes you feel as though you are being heard. He is clearly very knowledgeable and explains things in a way that is easily understood. I'm not sure if he is taking new patients right now, but always refer people to him.My only observation during my last visit is that he seemed rushed. It wasn't that I didn't get all of my concerns and questions addressed and answered, I just felt like maybe he was being over-booked, which is a common complaint I have heard in the past regarding Southcoast physicians. It worries me, because I have had several past practitioners just up and leave Southcoast, and am hoping that will not happen again.
The staff, from the minute I walked in were friendly and welcoming. Dr. Messina was friendly and thorough. He understands my history and is helpful in any of my concerns. It was a good visit.
Generally on time today!!! Suggested I use the Lab downstairs to have blood drawn. It was quick and easy.
The staff was very helpful. The nurse practitioner or I believe her name is [Name] was very, very nice and very knowledgeable. And my first time meeting Mr. Michael, Dr. Michael Massina, and I enjoyed him very, very much, extremely knowledgeable. And it's my first time meeting him. I had a prior doctor with you guys that's no longer with South Coast that I was not happy with, but I heard she's no longer there. So my new doctor is Michael Massina. And again, very, very knowledgeable, very, very patient. And I enjoyed him tremendously. Thank you.

I was impressed by the time Dr. Messina took to explain and answer my questions. I have hypertension and taking my blood pressure immediately after walking up a flight of stair and a long walk to examination room does not seem to make sense.
I don't have anything bad to say about the office staff, and most importantly, Dr. Messina! He is a young, kind very smart doctor! He takes time to explain things and most important. He always listened to my questions and concerns. I love his professionalism and how he takes care of my health.

Dr. Messina is a great doctor. I felt like he genuinely cared about being a doctor and helping people. I was told by the very nice nurse I had that sometimes he can run behind schedule so just let someone know if I couldn't wait any longer the wait was taking too long. I told her sometimes that is good because it means the doctor is doing their job right and not rushing patients out. Dr. Messina is what a true doctor should be, he listened to my concerns with true attention and addressed everything I had questions about. I can't remember the last time a doctor had the patience and care that Dr. Messina showed toward me.

Dr. Messina is knowledgable, an excellent listener and I have total confidence in his analysis of any health issues I may have. He basically has all the skills I would expect of a family medicine practitioner.
