A enfermeira da Keith Middle School de New Bedford estava a ligar para lhe dizer que o seu filho de 14 anos, Amaree, estava a ter dores no peito.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Amaree e o seu irm\u00e3o mais velho, Christopher, tinham estado a limpar a neve ap\u00f3s uma tempestade no dia anterior e disseram \u00e0 m\u00e3e que o seu peito estava \"muito dorido\". Mas no dia seguinte do\u00eda ainda mais e quando Jo-Ann recebeu a chamada da enfermeira da escola, deixou rapidamente o seu emprego numa escola residencial comportamental privada em Middleboro para crian\u00e7as com dificuldades de aprendizagem e emocionais.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Jo-Ann telefonou ao pediatra de Amaree, que a aconselhou a lev\u00e1-lo aos servi\u00e7os de urg\u00eancia. Ela levou-o imediatamente para <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southcoast.org\/pt\/services\/urgent-care\/\">Cuidados urgentes de sa\u00fade em Southcoast<\/a> em Dartmouth, onde foi imediatamente atendido pelo enfermeiro <a href=\"https:\/\/www.southcoast.org\/pt\/doctors\/alysa-lopes-np\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Alysa Lopes<\/a>. A\u00ed, os testes revelaram um n\u00edvel elevado de troponina, que \u00e9 indicativo de stress e de danos no m\u00fasculo card\u00edaco.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\"Os n\u00fameros eram terr\u00edveis\", disse Jo-Ann. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dada a possibilidade de Amaree ter uma infe\u00e7\u00e3o viral que afectava o seu cora\u00e7\u00e3o, um m\u00e9dico residente do Departamento de Urg\u00eancias do St. Luke's providenciou a sua transfer\u00eancia para <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childrenshospital.org\/\">Hospital Pedi\u00e1trico de Boston<\/a>. \u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u00ed, foi submetido a dois dias de exames e foi-lhe diagnosticada miocardite, um incha\u00e7o do m\u00fasculo card\u00edaco, geralmente resultante de uma infe\u00e7\u00e3o viral.
