She obtained her Doctor of Medicine and her PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of California in Los Angeles. She continued her medical training with Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at the University of Washington in Seattle, followed by an Advanced Cardiac Surgery Fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Faltermeier\u2019s clinical interests include coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), multi-arterial CABG, valve surgery, aortic disease, valve-sparing aortic root replacement, and the surgical treatment atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Her passion for medicine began at a young age, shaped by caring for ill family members and volunteering in local hospitals. After beginning her surgical career in neurosurgery, she became fascinated by the heart and ultimately chose cardiac surgery because of the profound impact it can have on patients with heart disease. Many cardiac operations are lifesaving and can also prolong and significantly improve quality of life for patients. She is particularly inspired by the continued evolution of the field and the development of safer, less invasive treatment approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Her approach to patient care is deeply personal. After caring for her father through metastatic cancer, she gained firsthand insight into the fear and uncertainty patients and families experience. She strives to provide the same trust, compassion and support she valued during that time, ensuring patients understand their condition and feel confident in their treatment plan.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Faltermeier\u2019s research background also guides her practice. She continually reviews emerging evidence and clinical guidelines to provide care that reflects the latest advances in cardiac surgery.
