For Becky Schlosser, It’s About Giving Back to Her Community

As Director of Operations for Medicine Care and Cancer Care, Becky Schlosser appreciates that even though her role isn’t clinical, she still holds a part in helping patients achieve the best outcomes possible. In fact, Becky’s commitment to the patients of our community – and hers – has been her North Star throughout her 10-year career at Southcoast Health.
Becky first joined Southcoast Health in 2015 after working at a Boston area hospital because she wanted to work in the community where she lived. She was hired as Practice Manager for one of Southcoast Health’s Cardiology practices. The role was a great fit and Becky was promoted just one year later to Practice Administrator overseeing the three cardiology practices in the Eastern Region.
Pushing herself to continue advancing, Becky went back to school, earning her MBA in Organizational Leadership. Ready to take on a new challenge, she learned of an open position in Southcoast Health Cancer, applied, and became Director of Operations in 2017. Supporting patients battling cancer gave new meaning to her work, and Becky knew she had found her professional home. She is deeply invested in her patients, celebrating their victories and grieving their setbacks.
As Becky has progressed in her career, she has also evolved as a person. Previously a “Type A careerist,” today, she is more compassionate and doesn’t stress over the small things she can’t control. In helping Becky recognize what really matters, her patients have helped her as much as she has helped them.
Eras Tour Q&A
Q: Ten years is a major milestone! What’s kept you at Southcoast Health all these years?
A: It’s so rewarding to work for a company that is as dedicated to my community as I am. It makes my work so much more meaningful knowing that the people we’re treating are literally my friends, neighbors, family. This is why the care we provide patients is so much more personal than what they would get at a big city hospital.
Q: If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself on your first day at Southcoast Health?
A: I would say “don’t be too hard on yourself.” It’s going to feel overwhelming at first, and it may take a year, but take everything in stride and be patient and you’ll get there.
