Southcoast Health CARES

At Southcoast Health, we are committed to our mission of providing healthcare that extends beyond direct patient care. We know that the environment in which we live, work, play, and age is the greatest indicator of health and overall wellness.  Join your neighbors, friends, and fellow community members in giving back by helping clean up the streets and neighborhoods in our local community!

How can I get involved?    

Southcoast Health will host Operation Clean Sweep at our St. Luke’s Hospital campus in New Bedford’s Ward 5 and its surrounding areas, from 8am until noon on Saturday, July 17th, weather permitting.  Water will be readily available, and attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottle. Students and volunteers are eligible to earn community service hours during the cleanup.




Check-in begins at 8am under the Operation Clean Sweep Tent
The tent will be located within the Southcoast Health employee parking lot at the corner of Hawthorn Street and Page Street, with the ability to enter via Hawthorn Street

  • Gloves and tools will be supplied
  • Safety Notes  – Please READ in advance
  • Opportunity to earn community service hours
  • Kids under 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian



Patient safety is always a top priority at Southcoast Health, and with the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in early 2020, this vital element of healthcare became even more important.

Our Southcoast Health Wellness Van will be onsite and available to administer vaccinations to those who would like one. We will be offering the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to individuals that are 18 years or older.  No appointment is necessary.
