This year,<strong> a total of 31 deserving recipients were awarded scholarships amounting to $46,500, with <a>each individual<\/a> receiving $1,500<\/strong> to support their college education. The awarded students demonstrated outstanding academic achievement and a strong commitment to pursuing careers in the medical field.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cWe are delighted that you have chosen to pursue careers in healthcare, and I\u2019m sure my colleagues here will agree that although healthcare can be challenging, it is fulfilling and meaningful work,\u201d said<strong> David McCready, President and CEO of Southcoast Health <\/strong>to the students at the annual scholarship lunch event on Tuesday, June 2.<strong> \"<\/strong>By supporting students who are pursuing careers in healthcare and medicine today, we are ensuring that there will be skilled caregivers to serve our communities in the future.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The scholarships are made possible through a collaborative effort supported by the generosity of individual donors and the Ambassadors. Each donor provides $1,000 in funding, supplemented by an additional $500 contribution from the Ambassadors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cTo our dedicated donors, scholarship chairs, and committee members, thank you for your unwavering commitment to supporting this program,\u201d said <strong>Kimberley Coon, Executive Director of Hospital and Medical Staff Services, Chief of Staff to the COO at Southcoast Health.<\/strong> \u201cYour generosity makes a meaningful difference in advancing opportunities for our future healthcare professionals.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Following a highly competitive and extensive review process, the selection of recipients was a difficult decision. Candidates were evaluated based on a variety of criteria, including cumulative GPA, awards and achievements, written essays, letters of recommendation and professional or volunteer experience.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event featured keynote speaker<a href=\"https:\/\/www.southcoast.org\/es\/doctors\/iraklis-gerogiannis-md\/\"><strong>Dr. Iraklis Gerogiannis, Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery<\/strong><\/a><strong> at Southcoast Health<\/strong>, who encouraged the students to seek guidance as they continue their academic journeys. He congratulated the students and the Southcoast Health Ambassadors, emphasizing the awards as an investment in the future of healthcare in our local community.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cHealthcare is a profoundly human profession, and the future of healthcare is not just technology it is all of you. She plans to continue her education at Liberty University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Matthew Barboza<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Escuela Secundaria Regional Somerset Berkley<\/strong>, is the recipient of the BayCoast Bank Scholarship 2026. He plans to attend the University of Rhode Island majoring in Biology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Emma Cassisi <\/strong>of Middletown, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Middletown High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Drs. Jeanette and Arnold Giedrimas Scholarship. She plans to continue her education at Dartmouth College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Ashna Kantamkulathy<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional de Apponequet<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Southcoast Cardiac Surgery Scholarship. She plans to attend the University of Massachusetts majoring in Biology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Hannah Kuriscak<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional de Apponequet<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Ann Petrella Memorial Scholarship. She plans to attend Villanova University majoring in Biology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Nora McClurkin<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional de Apponequet<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Dr. Christopher Skeehan and Mrs. Emily Skeehan Health Professions Scholarship. She plans to attend Northeastern University, majoring in Biochemistry.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sarah Raposa<\/strong> of Fall River, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>B.M.C. Durfee High School<\/strong>, and the recipient of the In Memory of Dr. Amine B. Maalouf Scholarship Fund. She plans to attend University of South Carolina majoring in Biological Sciences<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vidhya Santhosh<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional de Apponequet<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Dr. Ashok Gajwani and Mrs. Madhushree Gajwani Scholarship. Kucikas II Scholarship. She plans to attend UMass Dartmouth majoring in Nursing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Madeline Gamelin<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at<strong> Instituto de Fairhaven<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Dr. Andrew Medeiros Scholarship. She plans to attend Ohio State University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jayla Holland<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Bristol-Plymouth Regional Technical High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Southern New England Radiology Scholarship. She plans to attend the University of New England majoring in Dental Hygiene.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Caroline Hopkins<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Bishop Stang<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Dr. Gurbux Mansharamani and Mrs. Hansi Mansharamani Scholarship. She plans to attend Boston College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gabriella Olmeda<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at<strong> Instituto de Fairhaven<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Rhonda Couto Memorial Scholarship. He plans to attend Westfield State University, majoring in Psychology.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Brooke Halloran<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Wareham High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Wylde Family Scholarship. She plans to attend Cape Cod Community College majoring in Health Sciences.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Caitlyn Lund<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional Old Rochester<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Wylde Family Scholarship. She plans to attend Tufts University.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Delilah Post<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional Old Rochester<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Wylde Family Scholarship. She plans to attend Providence College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Noah Thorell<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Regional Old Rochester<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Michael J. Cicoria, Jr. Memorial Scholarship. He plans to attend Springfield College, majoring in Physician Assistant studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Sophia Tibbetts<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at<strong> Carver Middle High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Paul John Coffey Scholarship. She plans to attend Western New England University majoring in Biomedical Engineering.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Meghan Youngquist<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Middleboro High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Phyllis N. Upham Memorial Scholarship in Memory of Glen Bauer. She plans to attend Northeastern University majoring in Nursing.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Maeve Zakrzewski<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Carver Middle High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Wylde Family Scholarship. She plans to attend Regis College, majoring in nursing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following students are recipients of the Southcoast Health Senior Leadership Employee Scholarship:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Maddyx Guadalupe<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at<strong> Bristol County Agricultural High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Southcoast Health Senior Leadership Employee Scholarship. Maddyx plans to attend Bristol Community College.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Addison Kostin<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at<strong> Tabor Academy High School<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Southcoast Health Senior Leadership Employee Scholarship. She plans to attend William and Mary College.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>The following students are recipients of the Portuguese Cultural Scholarship:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Madison Alves<\/strong>, a member of the Class of 2026 at <strong>Instituto Bishop Stang<\/strong>, is the recipient of the Portuguese Cultural Scholarship.
