Tambi\u00e9n es el Mes del Coraz\u00f3n y el momento perfecto para aprender a cuidar al m\u00e1ximo el \u00f3rgano m\u00e1s vital del cuerpo. Este mes, el Dr. Peter Cohn, Jefe de Southcoast Health Heart &amp; Vascular, comparte consejos sobre la salud del coraz\u00f3n y c\u00f3mo mantenerlo latiendo fuerte.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Conocer los riesgos de las cardiopat\u00edas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque las cardiopat\u00edas afectan tanto a hombres como a mujeres, los riesgos y s\u00edntomas pueden presentarse de forma diferente. Comprender estos riesgos y adoptar h\u00e1bitos cardiosaludables puede reducir significativamente las probabilidades de sufrir infartos y otras afecciones cardiovasculares.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Riesgos para los hombres<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>En general, los hombres corren un mayor riesgo de sufrir cardiopat\u00edas a una edad m\u00e1s temprana que las mujeres. Los principales factores de riesgo son:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hipertensi\u00f3n arterial y colesterol o triglic\u00e9ridos elevados<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fumar<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Diabetes<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Obesidad<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Falta de actividad f\u00edsica<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Altos niveles de estr\u00e9s<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Antecedentes familiares de enfermedad coronaria<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Los s\u00edntomas de un infarto en los hombres suelen incluir dolor intenso en el pecho, presi\u00f3n o pesadez, as\u00ed como dificultad para respirar y dolor irradiado al brazo o la mand\u00edbula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Riesgos para las mujeres<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Las mujeres tienden a desarrollar cardiopat\u00edas m\u00e1s tarde, a menudo despu\u00e9s de la menopausia, cuando disminuyen los niveles de estr\u00f3genos. Adem\u00e1s de la hipertensi\u00f3n, el colesterol, el tabaquismo, la diabetes y la obesidad, los factores de riesgo para las mujeres tambi\u00e9n incluyen:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Afecciones inflamatorias (como lupus o artritis reumatoide)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Estr\u00e9s y depresi\u00f3n, que pueden tener un mayor impacto en la salud cardiaca de las mujeres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Aunque los s\u00edntomas del infarto de miocardio en las mujeres suelen ser los mismos que en sus hom\u00f3logos masculinos, hay casos en que los s\u00edntomas pueden ser m\u00e1s sutiles y pueden incluir n\u00e1useas, fatiga, mareos y dolor de espalda o mand\u00edbula.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Si experimenta estos s\u00edntomas, es muy importante que busque ayuda inmediatamente.<\/strong> El reconocimiento precoz de un infarto agudo de miocardio puede salvarle la vida. En cardiolog\u00eda decimos: \"El tiempo es m\u00fasculo\". Cuanto antes podamos intervenir en el escenario de un infarto, m\u00e1s m\u00fasculo cardiaco podremos salvar.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Consejos para prevenir las cardiopat\u00edas<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00bfSab\u00eda que aproximadamente el 80% de las cardiopat\u00edas se pueden prevenir? Unos sencillos pasos hoy, como los cambios en la dieta y el estilo de vida que se indican a continuaci\u00f3n, pueden conducir a un coraz\u00f3n m\u00e1s sano ma\u00f1ana. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Seguir una dieta cardiosaludable<\/strong>. Los alimentos bajos en sodio y grasas saturadas son fundamentales para prevenir las cardiopat\u00edas. A\u00f1adir m\u00e1s fruta, verdura y cereales integrales es una forma sencilla de encauzar sus h\u00e1bitos alimentarios por el buen camino. Adem\u00e1s, intente beber al menos 64 onzas de agua al d\u00eda y evite los alimentos y bebidas con az\u00facar a\u00f1adido.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mant\u00e9ngase activo<\/strong>. El ejercicio regular fortalece los m\u00fasculos card\u00edacos, lo que mejora la capacidad del coraz\u00f3n para bombear sangre a todo el cuerpo. Se recomiendan 150 minutos de actividad f\u00edsica a la semana, como caminar a paso ligero, montar en bicicleta o hacer ejercicios de fuerza. S\u00f3lo 30 minutos al d\u00eda, 5 d\u00edas a la semana.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mantener un peso saludable<\/strong>. La obesidad o el sobrepeso son perjudiciales para el coraz\u00f3n. Aumenta el riesgo de cardiopat\u00edas, accidentes cerebrovasculares, hipercolesterolemia, hipertensi\u00f3n arterial y diabetes.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dejar de fumar y limitar el alcohol<\/strong>. Las sustancias qu\u00edmicas del tabaco pueden da\u00f1ar el coraz\u00f3n y los vasos sangu\u00edneos de muchas maneras. Pueden hacer que la sangre se espese y forme co\u00e1gulos en venas y arterias, provocando infartos. Reduzca al m\u00ednimo el consumo de alcohol, si lo hay: hasta una bebida al d\u00eda para las mujeres y dos para los hombres.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Revisiones peri\u00f3dicas<\/strong>. Controle regularmente la tensi\u00f3n arterial, el colesterol y los niveles de az\u00facar en sangre. Comente con su m\u00e9dico cualquier antecedente familiar de cardiopat\u00eda y tome medidas preventivas si es necesario.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Controlar la diabetes.<\/strong> Con el tiempo, la hiperglucemia puede da\u00f1ar los vasos sangu\u00edneos y los nervios que controlan el coraz\u00f3n. Esto puede hacer que los m\u00fasculos del coraz\u00f3n trabajen en exceso, provocando hipertensi\u00f3n.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Controlar el estr\u00e9s y mejorar el sue\u00f1o<\/strong>. El estr\u00e9s, la falta de sue\u00f1o o un sue\u00f1o de mala calidad pueden contribuir a la hipertensi\u00f3n y sobrecargar nuestro coraz\u00f3n.
